Trump Flails Over Whistle Blower Charges: ‘It Was a Beautiful Conversation’ but ‘I Don’t Know Who You’re Talking About’
Trump says he doesn’t know which world leader the allegations involve, but he knows his conversation with them was “totally appropriate,” “great,” and “beautiful.”
President Donald Trump appeared to be attempting to cover up both his actions that are now the target of a whistleblower complaint filed by an intelligence official, and his knowledge of what the allegations are. He failed miserably.
Speaking to reporters late Friday morning in the Oval Office the President was asked about the allegation, which include a “promise” he allegedly made, likely to the president of Ukraine. They charges, many believe, are that he used $250 million of U.S. military aid as leverage for Ukraine officials to dig up dirt on his top political opponent, former Vice President Joe Biden.
Here’s how President Trump responded to reporters’ questions:
“Ridiculous story.”
“It’s a partisan whistleblower.”
“I’ve had conversations with many leaders – they’re always appropriate.”
“Anything I do I fight for this country.”
“It’s just another political hack job.”
“It was actually a beautiful conversation.”
“It doesn’t matter what I discussed but I will say this: somebody ought to look into Joe Biden’s statement.”
Trump also charged the media would not investigate Joe Biden “because he’s a Democrat.”
“I had a great conversation with numerous people – I don’t even know exactly who you’re talking about.”
So, the president doesn’t know which world leader the allegations are about, and yet he knows he had a “totally appropriate,” “great,” and “beautiful” conversation with them.
