Hope Hicks Hacked
Newly-resigned White House communications director Hope Hicks told the House Intelligence Committee last week that two of her email addresses had been hacked.
NBC News reported Wednesday that Hicks informed the committee when answering a routine question that she was locked out of both her personal email address and the one she used when working on President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign. One of those emails had been hacked, she told them, but did not specify which.
Four people familiar with Hicks’ testimony told NBC that she “portrayed herself as not savvy in matters of technology.â€
“It is standard practice for lawmakers to ask witnesses about phone numbers and email accounts,†NBC noted, indicating that it’s unclear if Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT) continued his line of questioning. “But it is uncommon, according to people familiar with the committee process, for a witness to tell lawmakers that he or she no longer has access to past accounts.â€
