Trump Attacks Baltimore as House GOP Schedules Annual Private Retreat There – With President Expected to Speak

Published

on

President Donald Trump is expected to speak in September at the House Republicans’ annual private retreat in the city the president just called “the worst run and most dangerous anywhere in the United States”: Baltimore, Maryland.

“No human being would want to live there,” Trump tweeted over the weekend in an unprecedented, racist attack against a venerated Democratic Congressman, Elijah Cummings. He also called the “Charm City” a “disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess,” and a “very dangerous & filthy place.”

Trump, as is tradition, is expected to address the GOP lawmakers during their annual retreat – meaning he would have to travel to the town he labeled a “corrupt mess” on Saturday.

The Washington Post, which first reported the GOP’s latest plans, say it “could present an uncomfortable situation for Trump.”

50,000+ Sign Petition to Make Donald Trump’s Home Address ‘President Barack H. Obama Avenue’

Published

on

More than 50,000 people have signed a petition urging the City of New York to change the strip of Fifth Avenue in front of Trump Tower to President Barack H. Obama Avenue.

The petition at MoveOn.org, a progressive public policy advocacy group, notes the City of Los Angeles recently honored former President Barack Obama by renaming a portion of a Downtown L.A.  freeway in his honor.

“We request the New York City Mayor and City Council do the same by renaming a block of Fifth Avenue after the former president whose many accomplishments include: saving our nation from the Great Recession; serving two completely scandal-free terms in office; and taking out Osama bin Laden, the mastermind behind September 11th.”

Comments from some recent signers offer an insight in to their motivations.

“Make the other street Senator McCain”

“Wish Obama could run again”

“The tenants could at least have an honorable name in their address to offset the dishonorable name on their building.”

“New Yorker, here… Make this happen!”

“Thank You President Obama! #ImpeachTrump”

“Greatest president in modern history!”

The petition has been receiving more attention on social media after someone tweeted out its existence on Saturday. It’s now receiving much more attention.

The petition, which has been online since at least December 2018, will need to be around for a long time. 6sqft, citing The New-York Historical Society and an official NYC Media office, reports that among the prerequisites for getting a street renamed to honor someone, “the honoree must no longer be living.”

Video Mocking Straight Pride Day Declares Adam and Eve Were Victims of Heterophobic Housing Discrimination

Published

on

A video mocking “Heterosexual Pride Day” – which is actually now a thing – is getting a lot of attention on social media. Created by actor, writer, and activist Dylan Marron, the video amusingly explains how Adam and Eve became the first victims of heterophobic housing discrimination when they were kicked out of the Garden of Eden.

Marron packs the two-minute video with thought-filled quips from the very beginning, noting that every day is Straight Pride Day, and if you are straight and breathing you are already participating. He also mockingly says that gay people were invented in the 20th century to “threaten” straight peoples’ love.

No more spoilers!

The entire video deserves your two minutes and 15 seconds because it’s both funny and a blow to the ridiculousness of “Straight Pride Day.”

‘She’s Trolling Us’: Melania Trump Mocked for Speech Calling for ‘Kindness, Compassion and Respect’

Published

on

First Lady Melania Trump on Wednesday celebrated the first anniversary of her “Be Best” child advocacy program to raise awareness of cyberbullying and opioid abuse. Just as when she launched the program, the reception was not positive.

“I ask you again to join me in my commitment to promoting values such as encouragement, kindness, compassion, healthy living, online safety, and respect in our children,” the First Lady told supporters in the Rose Garden of the White House.

“As a mother and First Lady it concerns me that today’s fast-paced and ever-connected world can make children less prepared to manage their emotions, causing them to turn to forms of destructive actions, such as bullying, unhealthy habits, risky online behavior, drug abuse, and addiction, or even suicide,” she warned.

Many on social media decried her obvious hypocrisy, while others focused on the actions of her husband, a notorious and unabashed cyber bully. And some noted that the First Lady is not innocent of some of the behaviors her husband has demonstrated.
