Jim Comey’s April Fool’s Joke Really Just Pissed a Lot of People Off: ‘Worst. April. Fool’s. Day. Prank. Ever.’

Former FBI Director, former Republican, and current Donald Trump critic Jim Comey Monday afternoon took to Twitter to post an April Fool’s Day joke, and it did not go over well. In fact, it really pissed a lot of people off.
“I’m in,” Comey tweeted, posting a photo of him standing in the middle of a road, seeming to announce a presidential run. “We need someone in the middle.”
He added the hashtag “#2020.”
I’m in. We need someone in the middle. #2020 pic.twitter.com/IGt69bEQz1

Comey then clarified: “Happy #AprilFools. #VoteDem2020”
But could you imagine a president who used this website to make dad jokes rather than to hurl insults? Happy #AprilFools. #VoteDem2020

Clearly his April Fool’s joke landed like a lead balloon, with some remembering how he changed the course of the 2016 election with his October 28 announcement he was re-opening the Clinton email investigation – days before voters went to the polls.
It’s funny because he ruined the world. https://t.co/Z3hmvgYwna

This is almost as bad as your Hillary Clinton press conference gag. https://t.co/8aVvLGFRdL

Are you personally willing to pull a Daniel Ellsberg? Thought so, gurrrl.
Stop being a self indulgent, ineffective civilian and shut it. Amateur photo shoots with your stupid messages? Really? You’ve actually dumbed down Twitter. Congratulations.— Kathy Griffin (@kathygriffin) April 1, 2019
Comey was *not* someone in the middle. Not then. Not now.
I remember October 2016.
Then-FBI Director Comey raised possibility of re-opening FBI investigation on one Presidential candidate’s emails.
Comey put an official thumb on the election scale then. Our nation still suffers. https://t.co/Em3buPA6bj— Margaret Nielsen (@msunielsen) April 1, 2019

I am aware. It’s a shitty joke.
