Trump’s Prized NJ Golf Course Employed Enough Undocumented Immigrants to Literally Fill an Entire Town
‘My Whole Town Practically Lived There’ One Worker Says
A new investigation by the Washington Post has found that President Donald Trump’s prized golf course employed a literal village of undocumented immigrants from Costa Rica.
The Post traveled down to Costa Rica to meet with several former Trump employees who have used the money they made by working illegally at the president’s Bedminster, New Jersey golf course to build themselves a village.
“Many of us helped him get what he has today,” Dario Angulo, a former Trump employee, told the Post. “This golf course was built by illegals.”
In total, the Post says it spoke with “16 men and women from Costa Rica and other Latin American countries, including six in Santa Teresa de Cajon, who said they were employed at the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster” — all of whom were hired despite the fact that the course knew they were undocumented immigrants.
The Post also found that Trump employed undocumented immigrants at his Bedminster club right from its inception in 2002, as immigrants were bused into the property every day from the nearby borough of Bound Brook, New Jersey, and they were hired to work as groundskeepers, housekeepers and dishwashers.
The workers interviewed by the Post also described very loose hiring standards at the Trump golf courses, as they’d only have to present a “phony green card and a fake Social Security number to land a job.”
