Anti-LGBT Religious Conservative Declares Himself Winner in State Supreme Court Election That’s Too Close to Call

Judge Hagedorn Thinks Homosexuality Is Just Like Bestiality, Calls the NAACP a ‘Disgrace to America’ and Has Ties to an Anti-Gay Hate Group

State appeals court judge Brian Hagedorn‘s first act after Election Day was to declare himself the winner of Tuesday’s statewide vote for Wisconsin Supreme Court justice. The only problem: the race is so close the AP and other news outlets have refused to call a winner, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Hagedorn, a far right wing religious conservative who is tied to an anti-gay hate group, was losing during most of the evening’s results, but around 11:30 PM ET he began to pull ahead of Appeals Judge Lisa Neubauer, a progressive.

Currently, out of 1.2 million votes, Hagedorn leads by 50.2% to 49.8% – about 5500 votes separate the two candidates. Nearly all the votes have been counted.

State law allows for a recount if the tally is within one percentage point, so Hagedorn’s announcement is premature.

But that’s consistent for Hagedorn, a religious extremist who has ties to the Alliance Defending Freedom, which appears on the Southern Poverty Law Center’s list of anti-gay hate groups. Among those ties: being paid thousands of dollars for speeches to the organization.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that in a blog he kept during college, “Hagedorn twice wrote that a landmark gay rights ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court striking down a Texas anti-sodomy law could lead to the legalization of bestiality, sex with animals, in America.”

“‘The idea that homosexual behavior is different than bestiality as a constitutional matter is unjustifiable,’ he wrote in October 2005.”

“There is no right in our Constitution to have sex with whoever or whatever you want in the privacy of your own home (or barn),” he added.

Mother Jones notes in that blog Hagedorn “called Planned Parenthood a ‘wicked organization,’ the NAACP a ‘disgrace to America,’ and Roe v. Wade the worst and most unjustifiable decision in history.'”

In a 2014 interview Hagedorn said: “My faith impacts everything I do in the workplace.”

Hagedorn has also called Planned Parenthood “a ‘wicked organization’ that was more devoted ‘to killing babies than to helping women.’ He said his litmus test for voting in an election was a candidate’s position on abortion.”

If all that weren’t enough, Hagedorn has founded an anti-gay Christian prep school where a student or a teacher who is in a same-sex relationship can be expelled, as can a student whose parents are in a same-sex relationship.

Any possible recount will not begin until at least next week.

‘You Don’t Care About the Kids’: Top PA Lawmaker Berates Public School Teacher as a ‘Special Interest’ to Her Face

House Speaker Says He’s ‘Offended’ by Her Sign That Says “I Love Public Schools”

A top Pennsylvania Republican lawmaker took time out of his visit to a Catholic elementary school with Education Secretary Betsy DeVos to berate a retired public school teacher, calling her a “special interest” who’s part of a “monopoly.”

Speaker of the House Mike Turzai on Thursday chastised the school teacher who was protesting the Republican attack on local public schools. Conservatives across the country, emboldened by Trump administration polices spearheaded by DeVos are working to bleed taxpayer funds out of public school and inject them into charter schools, private schools, and religious schools.

“You have to care about each child,” Speaker Turzai informed the retired teacher, who was standing with another woman, presumably also a teacher, “not about the monopoly, which is where I think you folks are – you’re special interest people.”

“You don’t really care about the kids,” he claimed. “What you care about is a monopoly.”

“I’m a little offended from that,” one of the teachers responded.

“Oh I’m offended by your signs,” Turzai immediately replied.

The retired teacher was holding a sign that read: “I Love Public Schools.”

The other woman’s sign said, “Public Money for Public Schools.”

“I have dedicated my life to children. I have sacrificed my time –” she said before Turzai cut her off.

“You have to understand that there’s opportunities for each and every child in a variety of different schools, and those that have won a monopoly and are only about special interests and not about the child, need to think twice – and that includes you,” Speaker Turzai said. He then walked away, falsely claiming charter schools are not “for profit.”

“Please!” he concluded, sarcastically.

CNN Skewered for Booking ‘Liar’ and ‘Propaganda Performer’ Corey Lewandowski

Published

Corey Lewandowski‘s performance before the House Judiciary Committee Tuesday is being described as a clown show, but there was one portion that hurt Lewandowski more than any other.

“I have no obligation to be honest with the media,” the former Trump campaign manager insisted during his sworn testimony.

It was a stunning moment.

Also stunning is that CNN booked Lewandowski to appear Wednesday morning.

And here’s the Executive Producer of CNN’s “New Day” tweeting out the announcement:

The “most trusted” news network is getting skewered for it.

Republicans Reveal Special Strategy to Win in 2020: Reduce Debt and Repeal ObamaCare

Published

on

House Republicans are meeting in Baltimore this week for their annual policy retreat, and Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) took time on Friday to share their special strategy to win in 2020: reduce the debt and repeal ObamaCare.

“The first thing we would do is make sure our debt is taken care of,” Leader McCarthy told reporters.  Under President Donald Trump federal spending has spiraled out of control. The federal budget deficit this week just hit $1 trillion.

“We want to protect pre-existing conditions. We want to lower the cost of health care while raising quality overall,” McCarthy added.

That’s false.

And in fact, McCarthy earlier this year admitted House Republicans tried to kill protections for people with pre-existing conditions.

Meanwhile, under President Donald Trump Republicans are literally suing for the right to not only make it legal for insurance companies to ignore the ObamaCare mandate that requires them to cover everyone, regardless of pre-existing condition status, at the same prices (not charge people with pre-existing conditions more) but they have asked the federal courts to declare ObamaCare in its entirety unconstitutional. One federal judge has already ruled, stating he finds ObamaCare unconstitutional.

Since that ruling President Trump has asked the Supreme Court to kill ObamaCare.

As Bloomberg News reports,  however, Republicans say they plan to “reduce the debt by repealing Obamacare.” ObamaCare actually reduces the federal debt.

Republicans have already tried – and failed – more than 70 times, to repeal or replace ObamaCare.
