A CNN reporter who used to work at The Daily Caller has apologized after tweets from 2011 using anti-gay slurs surfaced. Kaitlan Collins, a White House Correspondent for CNN, used the word “fag,” and expressed concern over sharing a room “with a lesbian,” while attending the University of Alabama.
The Log Cabin Republicans posted the tweets Sunday evening.

Collins issued a terse statement of apology on the social media platform.
When I was in college, I used ignorant language in a few tweets to my friends. It was immature but it doesn’t represent the way I feel at all. I regret it and apologize.

After college Collins became a freelance writer and blogger then was hired by Tucker Carlson’s The Daily Caller, a far right wing website that was jump-started with $3 million from GOP funder and born-again evangelical Christian Foster Friess. Friess is best known for saying if women want inexpensive contraception they should put aspirin “between their knees.”
As Entertainment Editor at The Daily Caller Collins wrote stories with titles including, “Caitlyn Jenner: I Want To Make Transgender ‘Normal’,” and “Hillary Tells Celebrities She Could Beat Trump ‘In A Landslide’.”
