25TH AMENDMENT
25th Amendment: Omarosa says WH Aides Label Trump’s ‘Unhinged’ Actions ‘#TFA’ and Just Keep Moving
Omarosa Manigault Newman says she’s “embarrassed” at how frequently White House staffers have chalked up President Trump’s “unhinged” and “insane” actions to his mental state. Trump’s former Director of Communications for the Office of Public Liaison says aides would label texts about the president’s “crazy” rants or decisions “#TFA,” which stands for the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
“You know, we had a little hashtag, ‘#TFA,’ which now that I think about it, I’m a little embarrassed to tell you how often, when I went through my text chains from the White House, I saw the hashtag #TFA, 25th Amendment,” Manigault Newman said on MSNBC Sunday afternoon.
The 25th Amendment deals with determining succession a president is unfit or unable to serve, specifically surrounding his or her “Death, Resignation, or Inability to discharge the Powers and Duties of the” Office of the President. Some believe there is cause for it to be invoked now, given President Trump’s apparent emotional state.
“Whenever he did something that was just so insane and so crazy and unhinged, when he would flip positions from one hour to the next, we’d just hashtag it #TFA and we’d keep moving,” she added.
Omarosa says that those close to Trump know that “something very strange is going on with the President of the United States, and everyone who works in those positions – that’s why the definition of senior staff is so key. If you have an opportunity to brief him, to guide him, or provide any guidance to the President of the United States, that person is considered senior staff.”
She goes on to say that even among Trump family members and agency staffers, it was a coping mechanism, and she has more than 100 texts in which the #TFA hashtag was used.
