Roseanne Barr Apologizes – but Not for Everything

CALLS GROW FOR ABC TO CANCEL ‘ROSEANNE’
Roseanne Barr, star of ABC TV’s rebooted “Roseanne,” spent the wee hours of Tuesday morning tweeting vile and disgusting racist and anti-Semitic attacks on former top Obama aide Valerie Jarrett, Chelsea Clinton, Hillary Clinton, and George Soros.
After massive outrage and demands ABC fire Barr, she has issued an apology – but not for all of her disgusting remarks.
Barr apologized to Jarrett for calling her the offspring of the “muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes.” Those racist remarks were unforgivable.
The 65- year old former Green Party presidential candidate and Donald Trump supporter, however, did not apologize for any of her other remarks from Tuesday, including calling George Soros a “nazi who turned in his fellow Jews 2 be murdered in German concentration camps & stole their wealth.”
Barr called her assault of Jarrett a “joke” that was in “bad taste.” It was far worse; it was unabashed racism, pure and simple.
I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste.

She also claimed she was “leaving Twitter,” the social media platform she used to make her vile comments. Twitter should have banned her for violating its terms of service but has not.
I apologize. I am now leaving Twitter.

It’s unclear, although doubtful, if she is permanently leaving Twitter.
Many on Twitter were furious and not satisfied with her apology or promise to leave the social media platform.
This was not a joke, and wasn’t funny.
It was a direct racial slur.
There was no discussion, or reason to bring in Planet of Apes, except to make a racist slur.
This was not “bad taste.” It was “racist,” a word I don’t see in your apology. https://t.co/TC7NabYQuZ

Wow. Can’t believe a prominent Trump supporter was also a big racist

As it happens, @ValerieJarrett will be participating in tonight’s special town hall on Everyday Racism on @MSNBC.

Sorry .@therealroseanne you’re a racist. It wasn’t humor. It wasn’t anything but a monkey/black joke. Nothing better than your 2nd effort on TV being a short one ✌ https://t.co/FVpB8haKvW

are we really debating, on this day of our lord in the year two thousand and eighteen, whether “racist” is appropriate when someone calls a black person an ape?

Hey @ABCNetwork care to comment, or better yet, cancel?
Asking for a country. https://t.co/1UtHyD3pUE

We’re focusing on the racist part of Roseanne’s despicable tweet. But let’s not forget the other half, a “Secret Muslim terrorist” conspiracy theory which is right out of Trump’s birtherism playbook.

Disney suspended @jemelehill for speaking out against racism.@Disney canceled an episode of Black-ish for addressing racial injustice.
But @Disney allows Roseanne Barr to keep her TV show despite hard-core racism like this: pic.twitter.com/wulptblYHk

It was no joke, Roseanne. It was you showing the world who you really are, a racist. @ABCNetwork How does @therealroseanne fit in with your companies morals and values? #FireRoseanne https://t.co/UktDxXku0F

Disney owns ESPN & ABC
When a black woman @jemelehill calls a white man, @realDonaldTrump a ‘white supremacist’ she gets suspended by ESPN
but
When a white woman, Roseanne, calls a black woman, Valerie Jarrett, an ape & a terrorist, she gets ignored by ABC#SuspendRoseanneNow
