Putin Asks Trump for ‘Constructive Dialogue’ in New Year’s Telegram
On Basis of ‘Equality and Mutual Respect’
Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a New Year’s telegram to Donald Trump asking for constructive dialogue between the United States and Russia.
The Associated Press reported Saturday that the Kremlin noted that Putin “emphasized his Seasons Greetings to Trump that Russia and the U.S. could develop a ‘pragmatic cooperation aimed at long-term perspective†on the basis of “equality and mutual respect.’â€
“The development of a constructive Russian-U.S. dialogue is particularly important for strengthening strategic stability in the world,†the telegram reportedly continued, “and finding the optimal answers to global threats and challenges.â€
All 17 U.S. government intelligence agencies have unanimously agreed that Russia worked to disrupt Americans’ opinions and to install a president that Putin preferred—Donald Trump. Despite this fact, the president has advised that Putin “said he didn’t meddle. He said he didn’t meddle. I asked him again. You can only ask so many times.â€
“Every time he sees me, he says, ‘I didn’t do that,'” Trump continued in November. “And I believe, I really believe, that when he tells me that, he means it.”
Just this week, Trump took to Twitter to utilize caps-lock and attack his own FBI, former political opponent and the damning and credible “DOSSIER OF RUSSIA/TRUMP COLLUSION.† The president has frequently dismissed the findings of our own government in favor of Putin’s “assurances.†Putin, it should be noted, worked as a KGB spy.
In the summer of 2016, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump was warned by the FBI that Russia would attempt to infiltrate and spy on his campaign. He apparently ignored them.
Within the last few months, it was revealed that Donald Trump Jr was in direct contact with Wikileaks throughout the campaign. It was also revealed that former Trump campaign foreign policy advisor George Papadopoulos secretly pled guilty to making false statements to the FBI, with statements involving Russia.
Donald Trump’s former campaign manager Paul Manafort was also indicted in Robert Mueller’s Russia probe, with charges that included “conspiracy against the United States.â€
Despite these facts, and again—the consensus of all 17 U.S. government intelligence agencies—the president continues to call Russia’s attack on our democracy a “Democrat excuse for losing the election.â€
Happy New Year from the Kremlin, Mr. President.
