Your Turn To Show Your Love, Share Your Love Story.
Valentine’s Day is Sunday. So many of the stories here are about politics and activism, I thought we should take a few days to focus on WHY we do what we do here: Love.
At the end of the day, yes, we’re fighting for civil rights, equality, and freedom. But we’re fighting for all those things in large part so we can be the person who can freely love the person who loves us back. In many ways, we’re fighting for love.
I’m opening the blog up this weekend to you. I want you to share your story with the readers of The New Civil Rights Movement. Tell us your love story, your life’s story, who you are, who you’d like to be, what you are striving for, who the person inside of you is.
Just do it, as the saying goes. It can be five words or five thousand. You can include a photo or video or illustration or anything you want. The only stipulation is that it needs to somehow be of interest to the LGBTQ community. So, if you’re straight but you have a relative or friend who’s gay, tell us how that’s impacted your life. Tell us their love story. Tell us how you love them, and why. No matter who you are, or how you self-identify, what’s in your heart is what matters here. Gay, straight, lesbian, bi, or trans, tell us about your first love, your current love, maybe your future love.
In short, tell us your story.
I think it will help everyone, regardless of orientation or identity, to learn about someone else.
A few rules:
I reserve the right to edit, and to publish or not publish.
You must tell me whether or not to use your name. I will credit “anonymous” unless you specify.
By sending me something you give me the right to publish it.
Use your good judgment on what’s appropriate, so I don’t have to use mine. If it is inappropriate I won’t publish it.
I must receive it by noon Thursday, February 11.
Just email your story: newcivilrightsmovement at gmail dot com.
So, go for it! Who knows, if it’s terrific, maybe I’ll ask you for more!
