Mike Pence Blasted for Appearing with Anti-LGBTQ Extremists Three Times in Five Days

Published

on

Vice President Mike Pence has spent three of the past five days appearing at conferences and on stage with anti-LGBTQ extremists, including one who calls gay people “terrorists” and compares them to ISIS, and a group that appears on the Southern Poverty Law Center’s list of anti-gay hate groups. Some are starting to notice and call him out for it.

“Less than a week after appearing at an Erick Erickson sponsored conference, and a day after appearing with anti-LGBTQ extremist Sam Brownback, Mike Pence continues his anti-LGBTQ crusade with an appearance at an event organized by the anti-LGBTQ hate group the Alliance Defending Freedom,” the Human Rights Campaign says in an email to NCRM. HRC points to the Vice President’s “close ties” to ADF, a group that HRC says “is among the most horrific of any group operating in the United States.”

The Vice President late Tuesday morning addressed the ADF, a group that successfully represented an anti-gay Christian baker at the U.S. Supreme Court and works to deprive LGBTQ people of their civil rights, while offering false narratives. Pence, speaking at the Ritz-Carlton in Arlington, Virginia, bragged that he and the Trump administration have “taken action to protect the conscience rights of doctors and nurses and healthcare providers,” and “gone to court to protect the right to religious expression in the public square,” while praising the ADF for being “there every step of the way.”

The Trump administration claims it is working to decriminalize homosexuality around the world (there do not appear to be any public reports on its progress) and yet the Vice President is bragging about his work with the ADF, a group that, according to HRC, “believes in the re-criminalization of homosexuality in the U.S. and across the globe.”

ADF also “has advocated for the sterilization of trans people,” and its “extremist views have found their way into Trump administration and state legislative actions.”

Army Soldier Who Allegedly Discussed Plans to Bomb a Major News Network Arrested by FBI: Report

Published

on

A U.S. Army soldier has been arrested after allegedly discussing plans to blow up a major American news network, and allegedly suggesting targeting Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke has been arrested by the FBI. The suspect, Jarrett William Smith, also allegedly wanted to travel to Ukraine to fight a violent far-right group, and distribute information about how to make bombs, according to ABC News.

“A large vehicle bomb,” Smith allegedly said when discussing wanting to blow up a major news network’s headquarters. “Fill a vehicle full of [explosives] then fill a ping pong ball with [commonly available chemical] via drilling then injection. Put the ball in the tank of the vehicle and leave. 30 minutes later, BOOM.”

In suggesting targeting former U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke, Smith reportedly had this conversation:

“You got anyone down in Texas that would be a good fit for fire, destruction and death?” an undercover FBI agent asked.

“Outside of Beto? I don’t know enough people that would be relevant enough to cause a change if they died,” Smith allegedly replied.

Speaking to an FBI informant Smith allegedly “discussed a plan for an attack inside the U.S., his search for more ‘radicals’ like himself, and the possibility of killing members of the group Antifa.”

Leading a Facebook group chat Smith also allegedly told another suspect, “Oh yeah, I got knowledge of IEDs for days. We can make cell phone IEDs in the style of the Afghans. I can teach you that.”

Smith “has been charged in Kansas with distributing information relating to weapons of mass destruction.”

‘He’s Rigging the Election!’: MSNBC’s Morning Joe Fact-Checks Trump’s ‘Slimy’ Lies About Biden

Published

on

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough threw cold water on President Donald Trump’s accusations against Joe Biden, as the Ukraine scandal continues to widen.

The “Morning Joe” host ripped the president for pressuring Ukraine’s president to dig up dirt on Biden and then leaning on states to cancel Republican primaries to snuff out three challengers’ campaigns.

“You talk about an inside game, rigging the process, and we talked about how Donald Trump is rigging the process on the Republican side to make sure that as many states as possible cancel democratic elections for the primary,” Scarborough said. “I mean, he’s learning from Vladimir Putin the way you get 100 percent of the vote is you just cancel the elections, and that’s what Donald Trump is getting Republican operatives to do across the country.”

“So he’s rigging the election that way,” Scarborough added, “he’s using his power now to try to rig the election so a foreign power is pressured to actually try to dig up dirt on Joe Biden and his family.”

The allegations Trump and his attorney have been trying to push have already been investigated, and no evidence of wrongdoing by Biden or his son has turned up.

“To use the word that Rudy Giuliani used, and actions that most voters would consider to be very slimy,” Scarborough said, “especially since every investigation has shown that Joe Biden not only acted properly, but did what democracies across the West were asking him to do, and that is clean up Ukraine by getting rid of a corrupt investigator.”

US Intel Official’s Whistleblower Complaint Is About a ‘Promise’ Trump Made to a Foreign Leader

Published

on

A U.S. Intelligence official who used to work at the White House lodged a whistleblower complaint with the Inspector General about a “promise” President Donald Trump made to a foreign leader. The subject of the communication with the unknown foreign leader is not publicly known, nor is  the name of the foreign leader.

The Washington Post reported this latest development late Wednesday night, reporting that “Trump’s interaction with the foreign leader included a ‘promise’ that was regarded as so troubling that it prompted an official in the U.S. intelligence community to file a formal whistleblower complaint with the inspector general for the intelligence community.”

Trump’s “direct involvement in the matter has not been previously disclosed.”

The IC’s inspector general “determined that this complaint is both credible and urgent,” House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff has said.

“White House records indicate that Trump had had conversations or interactions with at least five foreign leaders in the preceding five weeks,” the Post reports. “Among them was a call with Russian President Vladimir Putin that the White House initiated on July 31.”

The whistleblower complaint was filed August 12.

MSNBC adds the whistleblower complaint should have been shared with the “Gang of 8,” the top leaders from each party of the House and Senate Intelligence Committees. It has not been, which has become the subject of tremendous conflict between the White House, its Acting Director of National Intelligence, and Congress.
