'VERY FINE PEOPLE'
Watch: Trump Calls Racist ‘Send Her Back’ Chanters ‘Incredible Patriots’
President Donald Trump may have tried to seem like he was distancing himself from the racist “send her back!” chants that erupted at his North Carolina re-election rally, but Friday afternoon he embraced the supporters who gave voice to his thoughts.
“Those people in North Carolina, that stadium was packed, it was a record crowd, and I could have filled it ten times, as you know,” Trump falsely told reporters from the Oval Office. There were less than 8000 people in the stadium.
“Those are incredible people, those are incredible patriots,” he said of attendees, many of whom chanted repeatedly, “Send her back! Send her back!” in an attack on Congresswoman Omar.
The president’s remarks appeared to echo his infamous calling of neo-Nazis and the alt-right “very fine people.”
Trump, for the sixth straight day continued his attacks on Democratic U.S. Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, a Somali refugee who came to America as a young girl.
“She’s lucky to be where she is, let me tell you. And the things that she has said are a disgrace to our country.”
