It’s a first.
President Donald Trump has just tweeted a short statement recognizing LGBT Pride month – his first-ever recognition of June as Pride month. True to form, his tweets were self-congratulatory and self-promotional. But most importantly, they are a cheap attempt to cover up his horrific record on LGBTQ civil rights.
“As we celebrate LGBT Pride Month and recognize the outstanding contributions LGBT people have made to our great Nation, let us also stand in solidarity with the many LGBT people who live in dozens of countries worldwide that punish, imprison, or even execute individuals,” Trump tweeted, “on the basis of their sexual orientation. My Administration has launched a global campaign to decriminalize homosexuality and invite all nations to join us in this effort!” he concluded.
That “effort” is not even boilerplate: there is no actual “campaign” to decriminalize homosexuality. When asked about it weeks after its “launch” Trump told reporters he wasn’t even aware it existed.
Trump’s recognition of Pride month comes just one day after his State Dept. quietly announced the formation of a new “Commission on Unalienable Rights” to “provide fresh thinking” on “natural law and natural rights,” which is code via the Christian right for anti-LGBT policies.
Let’s not forget two years ago, July 26, when Trump out of the blue and without notifying any of his military experts, announced via Twitter he was enacting a complete and total ban on all transgender service members in the U.S. Armed Forces.
Trump support of attacks on women’s reproductive rights, including the eight abortion bans passed into law this year alone, adversely affect LGBT people, especially “lesbian young women in particular are two to ten times more likely to become pregnant than heterosexual youth.”
Or Trump’s unprecedented flooding of the federal court system, including the U.S. Supreme Court, with judges who are openly and at times openly-hostile to civil rights and equality for LGBT people.
Or his embrace of neo-Nazis, white nationalists, white supremacists, and the religious right – all of whom are actively working to deprive LGBTQ people of their rights.
Or his decision to allow Education Secretary Betsy DeVos and his Attorneys General to dismantled literally every protection enacted under President Barack Obama for transgender people in America – including transgender youth.
President Trump has already proven he is the most anti-LGBT president in American history.
Two tweets don’t erase years of not just neglect, but active abuse and outright discrimination.

Fox & Friends: Mueller Testimony ‘Didn’t Change Anything…It Changed Everything, Because It Really Did Clear the President’
The “Fox & Friends” co-hosts Thursday morning continued their jobs as the cheerleading squad for the Trump presidency, heaping twisted, illogical, false praise on President Donald Trump so heavily that he turned around and tweeted it out to his 62 million followers.
Speaking about Wednesday’s testimony by former Special Counsel Robert Mueller before two House committees, co-host Ainsley Earhardt shared her utterly false hot takes with millions of Fox News viewers, but mostly with the all-important audience of one.
“I guess because it didn’t change anything,” Earhardt said, “we’re just where we were the day before, it changed everything, because it really did clear the president.”

Media Matters’ Bobby Lewis, whose job it is to watch “Fox & Friends” every day, encapsulated the direct-to-Trump-to-Twitter timeline:

To be clear of just how false Earhardt’s take was, as The Atlantic’s Adam Serwer noted, “Mueller testified that the president is an unprosecuted felon,” and “the president and his campaign welcomed Russian interference, benefited from it, tried to deflect blame from Russia, then tried to block the investigation.”
It Took Barr Just 30 Days to Change the Basis of His Entire Narrative About Mueller’s Conclusions – and Blame Him
What a difference a May makes.
On May 1, Attorney General Bill Barr told Congress he had “accepted” Special Counsel Mueller’s “legal framework…in reaching our conclusion” on the Russia investigation.
Fast forward to May 31.
Attorney General Bill Barr, who has at least six time prior already misled the American public, did so again Friday morning in an interview with CBS News.
“We didn’t agree with the legal analysis – a lot of the legal analysis in the report,” Barr told CBS News chief legal correspondent Jan Crawford (full transcript). “It did not reflect the views of the Department, it was the views of a particular lawyer or lawyers. So we applied what we thought was the right law.”
That “particular lawyer” is the Special Counsel, Robert Mueller, who Barr threw under the bus repeatedly in his interview, which had been taped Thursday, one day after Mueller delivered his 9-minute remarks that entirely changed the trajectory of the Republican Party’s gaslighting, headed by the Attorney General.
Former Dept. of Defense Special Counsel Ryan Goodman pointed out the discrepancies in Barr’s remarks:
To see the full contradiction between:
1. What Barr told @CBSNews: “We didn’t agree with…a lot of the legal analysis in the Report…So we applied what we thought was the right law.”
2. What Barr told Congress in written testimony on May 1, 2019.

Trump Gaslights as Even More Schedules Leak: ‘No President Ever Worked Harder’
President Donald Trump was furious after Axios last week published three months of his schedules that had been leaked, exposing him as possibly the laziest and least-engaged president in American history. Those schedules revealed he spends the majority of his day in “executive time,” a made-up term by the Trump White House that means tweeting, watching TV, and talking on the phone to friends.
The White House has launched an investigation to determine who leaked the schedules, but on Sunday Axios published four more days of leaked schedules, revealing Trump “spent 50% of the four days last week in non-structured ‘Executive Time.'”
Outraged, Trump took to Twitter Monday morning to gaslight America.
“No president ever worked harder than me (cleaning up the mess I inherited)!” Trump lashed out.
No president ever worked harder than me (cleaning up the mess I inherited)!

Many responded in outrage over his lies:
Work harder. That’s funny. More executive time than any other President. Mess you inherited my ass pic.twitter.com/bOHUm0STyk

Do you really think Americans have forgotten what President @BarackObama dealt with in 2008?
You have no idea what it’s like to clean up a mess. You took over in a period of low unemployment, a rising stock market, and an improving national debt.
Stop your stupid whining.

Obama inherited a devastating financial crisis and 180K troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Trump inherited a growing economy, the longest stretch of consecutive job growth, and 15K troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. https://t.co/scXuyuZOmW

You are a gravid wretch presently cable flipping news and pity-tweeting. During the day you’ll expend more energy doing your exotic lemur-fur wig than governing. You’ll end your day shoving a brace of Filet O’Fish, extra sauce, down your lie hole and watching 6 more hours of TV. https://t.co/21u8vsnhNs
