Woman Who Called Michelle Obama an ‘Ape’ Guilty of Embezzling Thousands Meant for FEMA Flood Victims
A West Virginia woman who had called then-First Lady Michelle Obama an “ape in heels,” has pleaded guilty to embezzling thousands of dollars from FEMA that was meant for flood victims.
“Pamela Taylor, 57, admitted last week to falsely registering for benefits after the deadly June 2016 flooding hit West Virginia, where she resides, the U.S. Attorney’s office said,” according to the New York Daily News. The paper describes Taylor as a “former non-profit director who lost her job in 2016” after making the racist remark against the First Lady.
“The Clay County woman claimed her home was damaged and she was forced to stay in a rental unit. However, those claims were not true, the office said.”
Taylor will have to pay back the $18,000, and faces a possible jail sentence of up to 30 years, along with a fine of up to $500,000.
“It will be refreshing to have a classy, beautiful, dignified first lady back in the White House. I’m tired of seeing an ape in heels,” she wrote in 2016 on Facebook.
