’15 Minutes of Unending Sparring’: Trump Invites Top Dems to Oval Office Meeting – Then Threatens Them
President Donald Trump invited House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer to an Oval Office meeting late Tuesday morning, which just concluded.
It didn’t go well.
Trump threatened the top Democrats, saying he would shut the federal government down if they don’t fund his border wall – a wall many Republicans adamantly do not want.
The meeting devolved into shouting and accusations. It was so bad that PBS NewsHour White House correspondent Yamiche Alcindor reports White House reporters coming out of the meeting “look stunned.”
“I’m told all three were yelling at each other, sparring openly and accusing each other of mischaracterizing comments.”
CNN adds the meeting featured “15 minutes of unending sparring.”
“I am proud to shut down the government,” Trump said. “I’m going to shut it down.
