Fox News Reporter Quits – Becomes Face of Journalists Angry Network Has Become Trump Propaganda Outlet

A Fox News correspondent has abruptly resigned from his job amid reports that Fox staff members are tired of seeing the network transformed into a pro-Trump propaganda channel.

The Wrap reports that Fox News foreign correspondent Conor Powell stepped down this week after nine years reporting for the network.

“After nearly 9 years, I have decided to resign from Fox News,” Powell announced on his Facebook page. “Those of you who have spoken to me in recent months, you will understand why I am leaving FNC.”

While Powell himself hasn’t publicly stated why he’s stepped down, a source within the network tells The Wrap that he’s just one of many people on the news team who are frustrated with the network’s emphasis on supporting Trump-loving opinion hosts such as Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, and Laura Ingraham over more hard news reporting.

“Lots of reporters are very unhappy with directions of FNC right now,” the source explains. “Fewer news shows. More opinion shows. Less resources for reporters to report.”

Fox News military analyst Ralph Peters earlier this year similarly stepped down from Fox News, while specifically calling it out for being a “propaganda” operation for President Donald Trump.

“Today, I feel that Fox News is assaulting our constitutional order and the rule of law, while fostering corrosive and unjustified paranoia among viewers,” Peters said in justifying his resignation.

‘Not Appropriate for Our Air’: Fox News CEO Rejects Ad for Anti-Nazi Oscar Nominated Documentary

The CEO of Fox News personally intervened in a small ad buy, rejecting a 30-second spot promoting an Oscar-nominated anti-Nazi documentary film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, which broke the news, Fox News’ Suzanne Scott said in an email the network would not run the ad because it was “not appropriate for our air.”

The film’s producers wanted to run the ad during Fox News’ “Hannity” show.

The documentary is, “A Night at the Garden.” THR reports the ad “recounts a 1939 Nazi rally in New York City, and a warning — ‘It Can Happen Here’ — to Hannity’s largely conservative viewers about the potential dangers of President Donald Trump’s brand of populism.”

The film’s director, Marshall Curry, says it “shines a light on a time when thousands of Americans fell under the spell of a demagogue who attacked the press and scapegoated minorities using the symbols of American patriotism.”

The documentary is short, just over seven minutes, and can be viewed online free.

Here’s the ad that Fox News rejected:

Hope Hicks Gets FOX Job – And Mercilessly Mocked

White House Quick to Praise Move

Hope Hicks has landed a new job. The former Trump White House Communications Director had announced her retirement in February, one day after testifying before Congress she had lied for the president.

Hicks will go to work for FOX, as its Executive Vice President and Chief Communications Officer, according to The Hill. FOX is the new company forged from assets remaining after the 21st Century Fox and Disney merger, and will include Fox Entertainment, Fox Sports, and of course, Fox News.

Hicks joining FOX is just more proof of the inexorable bond between the White House, Rupert Murdoch, and Fox News – and how much Fox News will have 24/7 access to the Trump administration. The president months ago hired former Fox News co-president Bill Shine as his Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications.

The White House was quick to praise the move:

And many were quick to mock Hicks:

‘People Are Losing Their Minds’: Another Veteran Fox News Reporter Quits Over Biased Pro-Trump Propaganda

Published

Another Fox News reporter has left the conservative network over its direction and vividly pro-Trump tone.

Adam Housley announced he was leaving Fox, which he joined in 2001, because the network’s focus on President Donald Trump and panel discussions had crowded out hard news reporting, reported Politico.

“He’s not doing the type of journalism he wants to be doing,” a former employee told the website. “And he is unhappy with the tone of the conversation of the channel.”

The Los Angeles-based Housley plans to move to San Fransisco to spend more time with his two young children and wife, Tamera Mowry-Housley, the actress and co-host of the daytime talk show “The Real.”

Housley’s discomfort with the pro-Trump tone at Fox News is widely shared among the network’s reporters, according to current and former employees.

“People are losing their minds,” one current Fox News personality told Politico.

Conor Powell stepped down as Jerusalem bureau reporter earlier this month over similar concerns, according to a person close to him.

Retired Lt. Col. Ralph Peters quit working as a contributor for the network in March because he believed its pro-Trump “propaganda” was harmful to American democracy.

“Four decades ago, I took an oath as a newly commissioned officer,” Peters said in an email to colleagues. “I swore to ‘support and defend the Constitution,’ and that oath did not expire when I took off my uniform.”

“Today, I feel that Fox News is assaulting our constitutional order and the rule of law, while fostering corrosive and unjustified paranoia among viewers,” he added.
