White House: Eagles Canceled White House Visit and It’s a ‘Political Stunt’
Sarah Huckabee Sanders is claiming that “at the last minute” the Philadelphia Eagles canceled their White House visit and doing so is a “political stunt.”
President Trump on Monday said he was canceling the event, which was to honor the players for winning the Super Bowl. MSNBC reports Trump canceled the event because he didn’t want to hold the event if few team members were going to show up.
“The Eagles are the ones that tried to change their commitment at the eleventh hour and the president thinks that their fans deserve better than that,” Huckabee Sanders claimed Tuesday afternoon at a rare White House press briefing. She also told reporters that as of Friday about 80 members of the team had RSVP’d to say they would be attending what was going to be a celebration Tuesday afternoon.
“If this wasn’t a political stunt by the Eagles franchise, then they wouldn’t have planned to attend the event and then backed out at the last minute.” She also claims that the Eagles tried to “reschedule” there event.
The is no evidence to support her claims other than an official White House statement released late Tuesday morning.
The Eagles have not issued any statements since.
