Fox News Accused of Lying After Using Photos of Eagles Players Praying to Suggest They Were Protesting

Many of varying political and religious beliefs are expressing outrage at Fox News for using multiple photos of Eagles players praying in a story supporting President Trump and his decision to uninvite the Super Bowl champions from a planned White House celebration.
Fox News anchor Shannon Bream delivered this misleading report Monday night:
President @realDonaldTrump says Philadelphia @Eagles won’t attend @WhiteHouse ceremony amid national anthem dispute https://t.co/QOOUCg68Gd pic.twitter.com/CRHsoE6ArX
— Fox News (@FoxNews) June 5, 2018
Some members of the Philadelphia Eagles have spoken out against President Trump, and from the start several made clear they had no intention of visiting the president in the White House, which is a traditional event for every team that wins the Super Bowl.
But no Philadelphia Eagle player exercised their right to protest by kneeling during the national anthem last year, so suggesting there is a “controversy” with the players is false. They made clear they are not attending the White House because of the president, not because of the national anthem.
But that’s not what Fox News viewers saw or heard in several different news reports, including Bream’s, and in other Fox News reports.
This NJ.com headline sums it all up: “Like Donald Trump, Fox News gets caught lying about Eagles.”
Philadelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz was among those in the photos Fox News used of players praying:
This can’t be serious…. Praying before games with my teammates, well before the anthem, is being used for your propaganda?! Just sad, I feel like you guys should have to be better than this… https://t.co/kYeyH2zXdK

Many expressed outrage at the right wing cable news channel’s dishonesty and deceit:
3 of the 4 photographs used by @FoxNews in this clip show @Eagles kneeling but NOT during the anthem. They are photos of the players PRAYING; 2 of them @ZERTZ_86. No uniformed #Eagle ever knelt. This is shameless propaganda and a journalistic lie. https://t.co/7hiY35l0ak

This clip uses 3 photos of players praying before games (not during the national anthem). Gosh, Fox News, why do you hate Christianity? https://t.co/g7rQ2imTaF

Fox has always been a propaganda outfit, but this is beyond the pale. https://t.co/DajiCxjZLs

Fox News, fresh off broadcasting a number of lies about Jemele Hill, now caught fabricating Eagles player protests by using photos of them praying: https://t.co/Q8qqjjDYHZ

Garbage, echo-chamber-reinforcing reporting from @FoxNews. The players are praying. No Eagles player kneeled during the anthem this season, @Jeff_McLane reports.
Trump sets the tone and Fox delivers the message, however factual or not, to the followers. A well-oiled machine. https://t.co/elaa24ovxp

Hey #MAGA @FoxNews is lying again. Shocker. These players were praying to God and not protesting the flag. Where are you evangelicals? Shouldn’t you be in an uproar over this? Yet another BS distraction from the fact that @realDonaldTrump is going to Prison soon. https://t.co/9bB1givroB

I think today, all Eagles fans understand what @FoxNews really is. When you tell people this network lies about politics, some people just shrug. But when Eagles fans see a photo of @ZERTZ_86 praying, passed off as a player kneeling during the anthem — people can grasp that.
