  • Whoopi To Christians: Gay Marriage 'Is Coming Whether You're Comfortable With It Or Not'

Whoopi Goldberg called the Supreme Court's decision on same-sex marriage "spectacular," and let conservative Christians know that marriage equality is coming -- whether they're "comfortable with it or not."

On this morning's "The View," co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie O'Donnell, Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace talked about yesterday's  Supreme Court announcement on same-sex marriage. All four were positive and supportive, though Republican strategist and former Bush 43 spokesperson Nicolle Wallace tried to whitewash over the GOP's increased attacks on the LGBT community by claiming Republicans support same-sex marriage.

But it was Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie O'Donnell who reveled in the news, with Whoopi saying, “You cannot stem this tide. It is coming whether you're comfortable with it or not. For all of you folks who are deep Christians, as I recall as a child, I remember Jesus had a lot of different kinds of friends. Jesus never turned anybody away.”

Meanwhile, Rosie Perez took a shot at the GOP.

“What was amazing was how quiet the Republicans were,” Perez said, pointedly with Wallace in her sights. “They came out very hard against this and yesterday, you just only heard one little peep.”

“Republicans aren't the only ones evolving on this issue,” Wallace pushed back. “When President Obama of course was first elected, he wasn't where he is now. He wasn't an advocate for marriage equality.”

That's a typical GOP talking point that ignores the fact the President Obama publicly came out against Prop 8 and DOMA before he was elected in 2008.

Fortunately, Wallace added, “In 10 years, you will not even be able to find two people to debate it -- in three years... The younger generation will save us from the hardened debates that we've seen in our lives.”

Benjamin….What Kurtis is referring to ( I believe) is the covenant before the living God of Marriage. So yes…before God it is not real.
Why must you accuse him of having a poor marriage? How do you know anything about his marriage. So every marriage between a man and woman is a sham. Are all couples unhappy. I’m not? I am very happy. We have amazing sex, we have a thriving family, we like each other and still are best friends to this day.
My husband loves God and also comes from a speckled past, has been touched by the living God and also has a vibrant real relationship with him.
I know this is probably all TMI…but I am tired of people thinking married couples are unhappy?? Yes….50 % are. Guess what…..gay marriages will be the same. Human is human. Be blessed, not trying to cause problems here…it just bothered me. Take care everyone.

It’s not that I am uncomfortable with it. I really don’t care what people do, it’s their personal choice. But what I do care about and want to protect is MY RIGHT to believe my bible.
So when everyone is able to marry, don;t then turn around and say it is a “hate crime” if we believe what the bible says about homosexuality.
I think that is what most are concerned about.
Also, I think it VERY VERY WRONG, when two people that choose to live the gay life, wants to have a child….THE FRUIT OF A MAN AND A WOMAN.
I think if that is what you are choosing, stick with it. Don’t then expect to have what a man and woman can have.
      It is so hypocritical.
Speaking….with love in my heart, from an EX-GAY!!!! Lover of Jesus….in a LIVING real, relationship with God!. Hear him, feel him, know him! Married to my amazing husband of 11 years.

I am so tired of the double standards. We who are conservative can’t EVER speak our mind, feel what we feel and believe what we believe. You see, I WOULDN’T be ok with a Dictatorship…even if they were commanding everyone to be Christians. Its not what I believe, I believe in choice. Even choice to be gay or not. Go ahead. But it seems that many liberals would be perfectly fine with a dictatorship if it was in their favor.
So please stop telling what I should believe or how I should feel .
I believe the Bible. End of Story. Hate me or Love me….but don’t try to change me or silence me.

Kurtis Crawford: 1: God doesn’t want you to speak for Him. 2: Hate is a sin, according to the bible. 3: Gay people being able to get married must bother you because your marriage is a sham, since you and your wife have hatred in your hearts.

If they want to get married, let them get married. I got married in God’s house. I assume most of them will want to get married in church too. I’m not that concerned about it because it’s not a REAL marriage. When I was a kid I played cowboys and Indians. Litte girls pretended to be princesses. It’s just for pretend. If gays want to go through the motions and pretend to be married then who are we to stop the make believe. But don’t let it bother you my friends, a real marriage is consented by God, and he doesn’t consent homosexuality. Let the sinners sin, and let Him judge. What gays do isn’t physically hurting us, it’s actually very humorous.
