US Supreme Court Smacks Down Trump Attempt to Stop Asylum-Seekers at the Border
The U.S Supreme Court has just dealt a significant blow to President Donald Trump’s attempt to thwart asylum-seekers.
BREAKING: The Supreme Court denies the Trump administration’s request to let it enforce its new asylum ban while the case proceeds in court. The decision was 5-4, with Chief Justice Roberts joining his more liberal colleagues in denying DOJ’s stay request. pic.twitter.com/Q4qkxo4nIH

“President Trump’s Nov. 9 proclamation barred asylum for anyone who crossed the U.S.-Mexico border between official ports of entry, a reaction to recent caravans of migrants from Central America,” The Washington Post notes.
When a lower court ruled last month that Trump’s ban was illegal, Trump attacked the judge as an “Obama judge.” In a rare rebuke Chief Justice John Roberts openly criticized Trump’s attack, defending the impartiality of the judicial branch.
The Chief Justice stood with liberals justices in today’s ruling denying Trump his ban.
