President Donald Trump late Sunday night decided to pull U.S. troops out of northern Syria – opening the area to an invasion by Turkey against the Kurds, who have helped the U.S. in the war against ISIS.
According to multiple reports Trump talked to Turkish President Erdogan Sunday night, then immediately had the White House issue the statement that he had called for the withdrawal.
Other reports say the Pentagon was “blindsided,” and learned of the decision news reports. Even Fox News is reporting the Pentagon was “blindsided.”
And yet, Monday afternoon, asked by a reporter if he had consulted with anyone, Trump lied.
“I consulted with everybody. I always consult with everybody,” he claimed. That claim is also false. Trump has a record of making decisions based on the last person he talked to and making the announcement himself, surprising everyone. In fact, in February Trump announced he was pulling out of Syria, but had consulted with no one, not even his top military commander in the Middle East.
Trump Monday afternoon went on to claim many people are “extremely thrilled,” including the U.K. Reports from earlier Monday say Trump did not consult with them either.
President Trump, in the video below, also lied once again, claiming when he bacame president the U.S. Military “did not have ammunition.” That’s totally false, also.
Asked whether he consulted with Joint Chiefs before late night Syria announcement, Pres. Trump says, “I consulted with everybody. I always consult with everybody.” https://t.co/Hx3X7LF0z6 pic.twitter.com/V81YNerWuT

Trump Again Freely Admits He Was Trying to Get Ukraine to Dig Up Dirt on Biden – Which Is ‘Plainly Illegal’
Amid a rapid-fire Monday morning tweetstorm President Donald Trump freely admitted once again that he has been trying to get Ukraine to dig up dirt on his top political opponent, Joe Biden, and the former vice president’s son, Hunter. Using his office to try to get a foreign power to help him politically is not only an abuse of power, experts say it is “almost certainly” or even “plainly” illegal – and impeachable.
“Very simple!” Trump tweeted. “I was looking for Corruption and also why Germany, France and others in the European Union don’t do more for Ukraine. Why is it always the USA that does so much and puts up so much money for Ukraine and other countries? By the way, the Bidens were corrupt!”
The Daily Beast’s Sam Stein makes Trump’s intentions clear:
Admitting here that he was trying to dig up dirt on the Biden’s. https://t.co/7zU0Ha09qd

Meanwhile, literally not one word of Trump’s tweet is true.
Trump not only has not been “looking for Corruption” in Ukraine, he has not been looking for it anywhere. If anything, he has turned a blind eye to it, or in the case of Russia, welcomed it.
As for his false suggestion the US spends more money on Ukraine than EU countries, that too is false. The EU has spent billions on Ukraine.
Political commentator Bob Cesca:
Fact check: The EU sends twice as much aid to Ukraine as the United States. Germany sends roughly the same amount as we do.

And as far as the Bidens being “corrupt,” again, not a shred of proof that is correct. Even if it were, it is not Trump’s job to investigate. It would be the DOJ’s, which has established protocols to deal with corruption abroad.
‘That’s Not What Happened!’: Tapper Smacks Down Raving Jim Jordan Spewing Lies About Biden Investigation
In a highly contentious “State of the Union” interview, CNN host Jake Tapper repeatedly had to tell Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) that he was making up his facts about the son of former Vice President Joe Biden, at one time telling him, “It’s not gymnastics, it’s facts.”
As Jordan reeled off accusation after accusation about how President Donald Trump is being treated unfairly over his call to the president of Ukraine asking for dirt on Hunter Biden in return for aid to his country, Tapper over and over again told the Ohio Republican ‘That’s not what happened!” as Jordan kept rambling on while looking at notes in front of him on the table.
At one point Jordan raved about the money made by Biden’s son while he sat on the board of a Ukraine company, only to have Tapper ask him about the trademark deals Ivanka Trump is scooping up since her father became president, which only caused Jordan to laugh.
In one pointed exchange, Tapper pointed out that the lawmaker should be sensitive to what is true or not, with a veiled reference to accusations that Jordan was witness to sexual assault at Ohio State when he was a wrestling coach there.
WATCH: Trump Says He Hasn’t Read Whistleblower Complaint – in Next Breath Claims ‘Everybody’s Read It, They Laugh at It’
President Donald Trump has spent a good part of the day trying to minimize the news about a reportedly damning whistleblower complaint filed against him by an intelligence official. During an Oval Office press availability Trump threw many different claims at reporters, claiming both that he had no idea what was in the complaint or which country’s leader it involved, then claimed his conversation with the country’s leader was “great” and “beautiful.”
Minutes later he was asked again about the whistleblower report, and if he had read it.
“No I haven’t,” Trump replied.
“It’s – I, I just tell you it is – everybody’s read it, they laugh at it,” Trump said, making a face as if to denigrate the report.
It’s unclear who “everybody” is, but if it to have been even widely distributed Congress would need to investigate, given only the Director of National Intelligence and the IG should have access to it.
He went on to call it “another media disaster,” despite the intelligence community inspector general – who he appointed – calling the whistleblower complaint both “credible” and “urgent.”
