Trump ‘Absolutely’ Willing to Shut Down Government Over Border Wall

A visibly angry Stephen Miller, speaking on Face The Nation, spoke about the administration’s willingness to shut down the United States government over the funding for a border wall.
“We’re going to do whatever is necessary to build a border wall, to stop this ongoing crisis of illegal immigration,” said Miller.
When pressed on if they would be willing to go into a government shutdown over funding, Miller said, “absolutely.”
“At stake is the issue of whether or not the United States remains a sovereign country,” said Miller. “Whether or not we can establish and enforce rules for entrance into our country. The Democrat [sic.] Party has a simple choice, they can either choose to fight for America’s working class, or to promote illegal immigration. You can’t do both.”
The senior advisor was also sporting a head of visibly jarring “spray on” style hair to cover his bald pate, which many have criticized more than the words in his mouth.
The issue of wall funding has proven to be a contentious one. During Trump’s run for office, he repeatedly claimed that Mexico would be paying for its construction, a claim he backtracked on in seeking funding via congress.
He is currently seeking at least $5 billion for the construction of the wall, a figure that democrats in congress have balked over. They have offered $1.6 billion to cover “border security” exclusive of a wall.
As Republicans currently control congress, it would be up to the GOP and Trump to find a way forward. At current, the Republicans have no plan to avert the shutdown.
A tense exchange between Trump, Chuck Schumer, and Nancy Pelosi last week led the President to proactively take the blame for shutting down the government should it come to it.
To date, no portion of President Trump’s border wall have been constructed along the southern border with Mexico.
