THIS SHOULD NOT BE AMERICA
Owner of The NY Daily News Just Laid Off Half the Staff. They Didn’t Change Their Twitter Password.

One year ago the New York Daily News, a left-leaning New York City tabloid that’s taken on Trump full blast, was bought by a journalism monstrosity known as Tronc. On Monday, the corporate overlords laid off half of the Daily News’ reporters, editors, and others on the editorial side of the business.
The Daily News, by the way, has become nationally famous for its amazing – and amazingly blunt – front page covers, like this from a few days ago:

The News’ editor hinted at the impending massive staff cuts when he changed his Twitter bio to read: “Just a guy sitting at home watching journalism being choked into extinction.”
He also posted this early AM tweet:
If you hate democracy and think local governments should operate unchecked and in the dark, then today is a good day for you.

Tronc announced the cuts in a most inhumane way:
NYDN to cut 50% of editorial staff, per an email to employees: "We are reducing today the size of the editorial team by approximately 50 percent and re-focusing much of our talent on breaking news – especially in areas of crime, civil justice and public responsibility"

There’s a large and important discussion online right now about them importance of local news, something Tronc apparently does not care about.
Apparently, Tronc’s cuts included the people who run the Daily News’ social media accounts.
And apparently Tronc didn’t think about changing the passwords, because, this:

And, this:
Yes, local journalism and local news are vital to democracy. And attacks like this from Tronc are hurting America.
