Listen: US Congressman Sad ‘You Can’t Call’ a Woman ‘A Slut’ Anymore
A radio interview with Rep. Jason Lewis (R-CA) has surfaced on CNN’s KFile that has the Republican ranting about “sluts” who need to “behave.”
“Well, the thing is, can we call anybody a slut? This is what begs the question. Take this woman out of it, take Rush out of it for a moment,” Lewis said in the recording from March 2012. “Does a woman now have the right to behave — and I know there’s a double standard between the way men chase women and running and running around — you know, I’m not going to get there, but you know what I’m talking about. But it used to be that women were held to a little bit of a higher standard. We required modesty from women. Now, are we beyond those days where a woman can behave as a slut, but you can’t call her a slut?”
The comment came as part of a conversation about young female voters. According to him they only care about voting about birth control pills. Those women, to Lewis, aren’t human beings and don’t have brains. His reference was to Sandra Fluke, who came under attack by the right-wing when she testified on the importance of no-cost birth control as part of the Affordable Care Act. At the time, she said that students can spend up to $1,000 annually for birth control.

‘Come on! She Wasn’t Raped’: GOP Congressman Has Mocked Women Who Were Traumatized by Unwanted Touching
U.S. Rep. Jason Lewis (R-MN) once mocked several women who say they were traumatized by unwanted touching and/or unwanted sexual advances. On his radio show in 2012, before becoming a Congressman, Lewis at one point talked about women who had said then-GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain had sexually harassed them.
“I don’t want to be callous here, but how traumatizing was it?” Lewis said, as CNN’s Andrew Kaczynski and Jamie Ehrlich first reported.
“How many women at some point in their life have a man come on to them, place their hand on their shoulder or maybe even their thigh, kiss them, and they would rather not have it happen, but is that really something that’s going to be seared in your memory that you’ll need therapy for?” he asked.
“You’ll never get over? It was the most traumatizing experience? Come on! She wasn’t raped,” Lewis added.
CNN says he was “using a voice mocking an emotionally distraught woman.”

Before he was Congressman Lewis, Jason Lewis on his radio show in 2012 lamented he could no longer call women sluts.
In a 2015 blog post Lewis complained that Indiana’s “religious freedom” law, which was created to allow discrimination against LGBT people, “doesn’t go far in enough in allowing discrimination,” against LGBT people.
And in 2013 Lewis compared gay people to rapists, and warned same-sex parents may “harm” children.

Charlie Kirk Praises Kanye for Supporting Trump – and Trashes Taylor Swift for Voicing Political Opinion
Charlie Kirk is a far right wing activist and Donald Trump Jr. BFF. So it’s no surprise that late last month, one day after Trump-loving rapper Kanye West showed up on “Saturday Night Live” to proclaim his support for America’s racist and misogynistic president, Kirk took to Fox News to applaud him for it.
Calling it an “amazingly profound cultural moment” and congratulating West for his “courage,” Kirk said, “What I love about Kanye West is that he has been blazing this trail, saying it’s OK to think freely, it’s OK to oppose the status quo and in fact what makes America the greatest country in the world is free-thinking.”
(That’s not exactly what West was saying, but, oh well!)
Fast forward just one week.
Taylor Swift breaks her long-time political silence to slam far right wing extremist Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn, who is running for the U.S. Senate seat from Swift’s home state of Tennessee.
“I cannot vote for someone who will not be willing to fight for dignity for ALL Americans, no matter their skin color, gender or who they love,” Swift said on Instagram, as The Daily Beast notes. “I believe in the fight for LGBTQ rights, and that any form of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender is WRONG. I believe that the systemic racism we still see in this country towards people of color is terrifying, sickening and prevalent,” she added.
Enter Charlie Kirk again. Kirk founded the conservative college student organization Turning Point USA with big-time cash from GOP donor Foster Friess. Friess and Ginni Thomas (a far right wing actvist who happens to be the spouse of Supreme Court justice Clarence Thomas) sit on TPUSA’s board.
“This is what I used to love about Taylor Swift,” Kirk said on Fox News. “She stayed away from politics—she was all about music all about, you know, female empowerment.”
“I don’t want to accuse her of this, but I don’t think she’s the only one who wrote that post on Instagram. She probably got some very bad information,” he insisted. “Look Taylor Swift, I love your music, personally, Kanye West, I’m a bigger fan of his. I wish you would have not done this. Stay away from politics.”

Powerful Judiciary Committee Republican Waves Off Women Rape Survivors and Tells Them to ‘Grow Up’
U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT), like many Republicans in the Senate today, was confronted by a group of women, including rape survivors. The women, who are trying to convince Republicans to vote against Judge Brett Kavanaugh, challenged Hatch. At 84 years old Sen. Hatch is the longest-serving Republican Senator in the history of the U.S., and as the President pro tempore of the Senate is the second-highest ranking member of the body.
“Why aren’t you brave enough to talk to us and exchange with us?” one of the women asked, as The Hill reports. Senator Hatch waved her off with his hand.
“Don’t you wave your hand at me!” she responded.
As the Utah Senator who has steadfastly defended Kavanaugh walked into the elevator – where the activists are not allowed – he told them, “When you grow up I’ll be glad to.”
“How dare you talk to women that way?” one of the protestors charged.
Once inside, Sen. Hatch waved goodbye condescendingly to the women.
