Lawmakers Debate Controversial Anti-Gay Legislation
The North Carolina Senate now debates HB 2, a sweeping anti-gay bill that voids all local LGBT nondiscrimination ordinances and mandates that only state lawmakers can pass laws regulating employment discrimination, the use of public accommodations, and minimum wages.
The House one hour ago passed the legislation in a special session called just for this one bill. The Senate is expected to also pass it today, and the governor is expected to sign it.
