Meghan McCain To Thomas Roberts: Santorum “Gross” And “Outdated” On Gays
Meghan McCain, the less-conservative daughter of Republican Senator John McCain, today told MSNBC’s Thomas Roberts that Rick Santorum‘s positions on gays and gay marriage is “outdated” and “gross,” adding that Santorum is “far off the course of mainstream America.”
“There’s a difference between being against marriage equality and then equating same-sex marriage to bestiality, polygamy,” the younger McCain told Roberts.
“The more you get to know people like Rick Santorum, the less you’re going to like him,” Meghan McCain said, adding, “If you nominate someone like Rick Santorum, I guarantee we will lose.”
“My father is hopefully going to be the next one I can work on, and he’s sort of coming around.” She added, “he’s 75 years old, so it’s a bit different.”
The 27-year old Meghan McCain late last year joined MSNBC as a contributor, and had as her first interview Michele Bachmann. She is also a contributing author for The Daily Beast, and authored the 2010 memoir, Dirty Sexy Politics.
