Married Lesbian Mom, Wife, Kids Ask Anti-Gay Mayor To March In Gay Pride Parade
Back in June, a woman named Janice Daniels wrote on her Facebook wall, “I think I am going to throw away my I Love New York carrying bag now that queers can get married there.†Several months later, Janice Daniels somehow became the Mayor of Troy, Michigan. Then someone outed her Facebook comment and all hell broke loose in Troy.
Daniels refuses to step down and has been excoriated for her remarks.
But one same-sex headed household decided to take the high road and help Daniels learn from her mistake.
Watch this beautiful video of a mom — who happens to be a lesbian, is married, and has two children with her wife — elegantly and graciously confront Daniels at a Troy City Council meeting.
Andy Towle notes that the family “received a standing ovation,” and asks, “Can we hire these women to show up in front of every homophobe?”
Indeed.
