Trump Appears to Call on UK to Recall Its Ambassador Over Leaked Cables Labeling President ‘Inept’

President Donald Trump is attacking the UK’s Ambassador to the United States after leaked cables revealed he called the American president “dysfunctional,” “inept,” and said he “radiates insecurity.” Britain is planning to issue an official apology to President Trump, but as some critics have noted, the Ambassador was literally just doing his job: assessing political situations and players.
“I have been very critical about the way the U.K. and Prime Minister Theresa May handled Brexit,” Trump said Monday afternoon via Twitter. “What a mess she and her representatives have created. I told her how it should be done, but she decided to go another way. I do not know the Ambassador, but he is not liked or well thought of within the U.S.” Trump added.
There is literally no proof of that.
The President suggested he will have the Ambassador, Kim Darroch, recalled.
“We will no longer deal with him. The good news for the wonderful United Kingdom is that they will soon have a new Prime Minister. While I thoroughly enjoyed the magnificent State Visit last month, it was the Queen who I was most impressed with!”
Some noted that the Trump administration certainly appeared to like Ambassador Darroch.
Every time Kim Darroch threw a party at the ambassador’s residence half the White House turned up. They were certainly fans. https://t.co/xHson6FdB7

Others are noting the Ambassador’s comments, while they were supposed to be private, weren’t news to anyone.
British media is portraying Amb Kim Darroch’s leaked cables as “bombshells” but really this is the same analysis everybody in DC has, sadly: https://t.co/u4jfOrgkaT

The only thing interesting about the Kim Darroch cables is that they were leaked. The analysis itself could be found in every major newspaper at the time.

One odd reaction to @UKinUSA cables is that Kim Darroch was ‘undiplomatic’. It has always been a crucial role of ambassadors to be candid in private with their governments. The admirably frank and indisputable assessment of Trump is less the issue here than who/how/why of leak.

Others praised Ambassador Darroch:
I have known many ambassadors over five decades in Washington. @KimDarroch is among the finest. This dirty deed was clearly done by Brexit advocates to sabotage him. Whoever leaked his cables should be punished severely. If the PM Has any integrity, there will be a full inquiry.
