Federal and State Prosecutors Now Doing Deep Dive Into Trump Inaugural Committee Fundraising
Federal prosecutors in New York are now combing through tens of thousand of documents handed over to them by the Trump inaugural committee, in what CNN calls “a sign that the investigation into the committee’s finances is advancing.”
New York federal prosecutors are not the only ones investigating the Trump Inaugural Committee.
The Daily Beast reports the New Jersey Attorney General is also probing the Trump Inaugural Committee.
And The New York Times last week reported that “Federal, state and congressional authorities are scrutinizing many aspects of Donald J. Trump’s life through investigations related to his businesses, campaign, inauguration and presidency.” They list a total of 29 investigations.
CNN states the Trump inaugural committee took in a “record $107 million in donations,” and is investigating whether any of the funds were “misspent.”
