Theft of Millions of Dollars, Bank Fraud, Not Paying Taxes: Avenatti Faces 36 New Charges
A Southern California grand jury has approved 36 additional new charges against attorney Michael Avenatti, ranging from theft of millions of dollars from his clients, bank fraud, not paying or cheating on his taxes, and lying in court, according to the AP.
The three dozen charges are in addition to charges related to his alleged extortion of Nike. Avenatti is accused of trying to “shake down Nike for up to $25 million.”
Avenatti responded, writing, “I look forward to the entire truth being known as opposed to a one-sided version meant to sideline me,” the AP says.
