‘Cowardly’ Mitt Romney Mocked for ‘Weak’ Statement Saying He’s ‘Sickened’ and ‘Appalled’ by Mueller Revelations
U.S. Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) has just released a statement announcing he is “sickened” and “appalled” by President Donald Trump’s behavior and that of his top aides, as revealed by the Mueller report.
But that’s as far as he’s willing to go.
In fact, the former Massachusetts governor, former Republican presidential nominee, and former longtime businessman actually says it’s “good news” that there was not enough “evidence” to charge Trump with crimes, so the “business of government” can move forward.
“I am sickened at the extent and pervasiveness of dishonesty and misdirection by individuals in the highest office of the land, including the President,” Senator Romney says in his statement he posted to Twitter.
“I am also appalled that, among other things, fellow citizens working in a campaign for president welcomed help from Russia — including information that had been illegally obtained; that none of them acted to inform American law enforcement; and that the campaign chairman was actively promoting Russian interests in Ukraine,” he adds.
Romney then tries to shame the Trump administration, and possibly his fellow Republicans, by calling the Mueller report a “sobering revelation of how far we’ve strayed form the aspirations and principles of the founders.”
Here’s what Sen. Romney does not do:
- He does not mention President Donald Trump by name, thus protecting Trump.
- He does not call for impeachment, thus protecting Trump.
- He does not call for Congress to censureTrrump, thus protecting Trump.
- He does not call for any new laws to constrain Trump, or prevent him from running for re-election, thus protecting Trump.
- He does not call for the Dept. of Justice’s reputation, and that of its devoted investigators and prosecutors, to be renewed, thus protecting Trump.
Here’s what some are saying in response:
This is:
A) Mitt Romney running for president in the most spineless way possible.B) An absolute joke considering what Republicans would be saying if it were a Democrat in this position. https://t.co/A3mvxq2Hrz

A lot of this happened out in the open, and yet you still angled for a cabinet post.
Do you regret that now, senator? https://t.co/s6xtacBO97

You have to read this a couple of times to truly appreciate what a cynical, cowardly, selfish, dishonest, hypocritical piece of shit @SenatorRomney truly is. https://t.co/vte5sQIkxf

It is shameful and disgraceful that even so called independent Republicans believe that this President should stay in the office after what he has done and what he continues to do everyday. @SenatorRomney if you believe in country over party you would be calling for #Impeachment https://t.co/7g2clWiNcP

I am sickened and I’m not going to do anything at all about it except keep enabling and supporting and covering for this corrupt, criminal, and weak president and administration. But “I am sickened”!! Did you hear that, history books?#MuellerReport #Romney #ProfilesInCourage https://t.co/1vuq6HxoWO
