Walmart Actually Made a Cute Ad Featuring Two Gay Men on a Date – This Group Is Trying to Get It Banned

“It’s clear that Walmart is on the path of elevating homosexual relationships to the same level as the male-female model of marriage,” the AFA says – as if there’s something wrong with that.

Walmart is far from the leader of the pack on LGBTQ advocacy, but nearly four years after marriage equality for same-sex couples became the law of the land the $514 billion multi-national big box retailer apparently has decided to be more inclusive. And that’s a major problem for one anti-LGBT hate group.

Nearly 80,000 people have signed the American Family Association’s petition urging Walmart’s CEO to pull down an amusing and cute Facebook-based ad (below) featuring two gay men who meet at the store for a first date.

Part of a series the retailer calls “Love Is In The Aisle,” the two-and-a-half-minute video shows the men debating the pros and cons of cast iron versus non-stick pans, with one of the guys saying he’s “ready to commit” to cast iron.

That’s just way too normal for the folks at the American Family Association, an anti-LGBT hate group that has spent decades attacking LGBT people.

(In case you’re not familiar with their particular brand of what they call Christianity, the news director for the American Family Association blamed the Aurora, Colorado 2012 mass shooting massacre that ended with the murder of 12 people and another 70 people wounded, on churches supporting gay people and the liberal media.)

Claiming that “most Christians probably never expected to see” Walmart ‘join the cultural revolution and reject the beliefs of its customer base,” the AFA petition accuses “retail giant Walmart of posting “an online video that normalizes homosexual relationships.”

Indeed, that’s exactly what the video does. Or rather, it just shows that gay people are just like straight people: some shop at Walmart, some prefer bar soap over body wash, and some confuse coconuts with squash (no, really, that’s part of the video).

“It’s clear that Walmart is on the path of elevating homosexual relationships to the same level as the male-female model of marriage,” the AFA says – as if there’s something wrong with that. “We have no choice but to ask our supporters to let the company know how they, the customers, feel about Walmart’s shift away from neutrality on this controversial issue to full support for same sex relationships.”

Meanwhile, back in the real world, many of the comments on the Walmart Facebook page are glowing. Read them and watch the video below.
