Prominent Former GOP State Chair Torches ‘Despicable Divider’ Trump for Racist Ad Attacking Dems, Immigrants

Al Cardenas has some very strong words for President Donald Trump. A former Chairman of the Florida Republican Party and a former member of the Republican National Committee's executive committee, Cardenas has served under two GOP presidents, including Reagan, and is well-known on cable news as an strong conservative.

That's not stopping him from torching President Trump as a "despicable divider" over Trump's new, intensely racist ad attacking Democrats and immigrants. The new ad, which Trump has pinned to the top of his Twitter feed, is being called "far worse" than the infamous 1988 Willie Horton ad.

"You are a despicable divider; the worse social poison to afflict our country in decades. This ad, and your full approval of it, will condemn you and your bigoted legacy forever in the annals of America’s history books," Cardenas said via Twitter.

(We urge caution if you choose to watch the ad, below.)

Cardenas is no moderate. In addition to his work at the state and national level for the GOP, he was the chairman of the American Conservative Union (ACU) which hosts the annual far right Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).
