WHAT ARE REPUBLICANS TRYING TO HIDE?
Watch: Seconds Into Kavanaugh Confirmation Hearing Democratic Senators Move to Adjourn

GOP Chairman Grassley Loses Control of Hearing
U.S. Senate Democrats just seconds into the opening of the Judiciary Committee’s hearing on Brett Kavanaugh‘s Supreme Court nomination moved to adjourn. They cited Republicans’ refusal to release over 100,000 documents related to Judge Kavanaugh’s time in government service and a document dump – 42,000 documents to be precise – late Monday night.
California Democratic Senator Kamala Harris was first to voice her objections. Sen. Any Klobuchar (D-MN) joined seconds later. Connecticut Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal moved for adjournment. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) demanded to know why documents were withheld, citing executive privilege, when the White House had not specifically said it would invoke executive privilege. And Sen.Patrick Leahy (D-VT) noted the National Archives was not allowed to do its job of providing Judge Kavanaugh’s records. Other Democrats, including Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) actively engaged in objecting to the hearing continuing.

.@SenatorLeahy: "What are we trying to hide? Why are we rushing?"
GRASSLEY: "I think if I answer those questions it is going to fit into the effort of the minority to continue to obstruct, and I don't think that that's fair to our judge." pic.twitter.com/ErOc3Xjsfu

Democrats are all on the same page, grilling Grassley one after another about why he's rushing through Kavanaugh's process without giving them time to do a complete review of his records. pic.twitter.com/7E1b656Uzc

BOOKER: "We should have a thorough understanding of the nominee that's put before us so that we can vet them to go into this hearing. Withholding those documents is an undermining of the constitutional role to which we have all sworn an oath to uphold." pic.twitter.com/UpD7hNABRG
