THIS IS WHAT FASCISM LOOKS LIKE
White House Releases Trump Statement Revoking Brennan Clearance – Proves It’s a Distraction Tactic

President Donald Trump has just revoked John Brennan’s security clearance. Some are saying it was in response to this tweet the former CIA Director posted yesterday:
It’s astounding how often you fail to live up to minimum standards of decency, civility, & probity. Seems like you will never understand what it means to be president, nor what it takes to be a good, decent, & honest person. So disheartening, so dangerous for our Nation. https://t.co/eI9HaCec1m

Others are saying it’s a distraction – a clear attempt to toss Omarosa off the news cycle.
It’s both.
The statement the White House released is dated July 26 – three weeks ago.
CNN’s Kate Bennett posted the document to Twitter:
The White House passes along a copy of the Brennan statement from the president that @PressSec read today. Note the date: July 26th. Wait a second, it’s almost as though they were holding it in case something else broke … nah. pic.twitter.com/VdOy8szWo5

But it’s also, clearly, pure political retribution.
Reporters weigh in:
White House sends out copy of president’s statement on revoking Brennan’s security clearance. But it’s not dated today. Pool reporters are asking why:
“Statement from the President

The date on President Trump’s statement about revoking John Brennan’s security clearance? July 26. Three weeks ago. I guess it’s just a coincidence that the White House decided to announce this as they struggle to deal with the fallout from Omarosa’s book. pic.twitter.com/c6TvfmOD9e

.@betsy_klein and @jeffzeleny report: The statement from Trump revoking Brennan’s security clearance is dated July 26.
It appears the White House held on to this for three weeks and waited for the opportune moment to drop it and change the conversation.

Here are the two versions of the Brennan statement the WH put out.
The first, with the July 26 date, to some reporters, and then without the date, to the whole pool. pic.twitter.com/4mipgjunJj

This is the date on the president’s statement today sent to the TV pool, stripping @JohnBrennan of his clearance. July 26 is three days after this threat was first made. The letter sent to print pool minutes later does not have the date. WH says it’s a mistake. Ok. pic.twitter.com/FV8WPFhVB4
