Nate Silver Releases First Coverage of Senate Race: Democrats Slightly Ahead
Can The Democrats Win a Senate Majority?
Statistician Nate Silver’s FiveThirtyEight just posted its first forecast for the 2016 Senate race, showing Democrats have a slight chance to win a majority. As of now, Democrats have a 58.4 percent chance of winning back the Senate, Republicans have a 41.6 percent chance of keeping it, according to his Polls-plus forecast.
A Democratic Senate would both prove Hillary Clinton has a mandate to lead should she win the White House, and it would allow her to enact reforms if she can get them to pass the House. It would also allow her to more easily place nominees on the federal judiciary especially the Supreme Court.Â
Besides, who wouldn’t want to see Mitch McConnell pay for his war against President Barack Obama?
