Huckabee: Opposing Same-Sex Marriage May Cost People Jobs
At the “Rediscover God in America” fundraiser for hate group-associated Florida Family Policy Council Thursday night in Des Moines, Iowa, soon-to-be presidential candidate Mike Huckabee spoke against same-sex marriage and told the audience that “marriage still means that a man marries a woman” and claimed that sticking to that belief may cost some people their jobs. Saying, “Will it [supporting only traditional marriage] perhaps even cost me my job? Possibly,” while encouraging his audience to stand firm, Huckabee urged them to become “spiritual warriors.”

Republican presidential aspirants Mike Huckabee, Newt Gingrich, Haley Barbour, and Michele Bachmann teamed up with Tony Perkins, president of the certified hate group the Family Research Council (FRC), and other hate preachers, such as Lou Engle and David Barton to create the fundraiser, which was broadcast to churches Sunday.
“I pray that God will raise up spiritual warriors who will say America will not fall – that we will not let this nation fall to the hands of those that will enslave us. This battle is one that pits good against evil. There are things that are right and there are things that are wrong and the great battle that we will live or die by to preserve this nation is one in which we identify and then we fight for until the last breath – that there are some things that are holy and pure and that are just,” said Huckabee, a Baptist Minister and strong anti-gay activist.
In the video below, Huckabee says, “Real faith is tested. It’s not easy. And I know there are always those who say but if we take such a stand for righteousness. If we do hold to the idea – as you did in Iowa, and God bless you for it – then marriage still means that a man marries a woman and remains faithful in a partnership for life.â€
“If we truly cherish and believe that, and uphold that, I assure you, it will not always be popular and we may pay the price for it. And there may be some even here tonight who will say, will that make some people mad? And the answer is yes. Will it get me in trouble? Yes. Will it perhaps even cost me my job? Possibly. But if we gain the world and we lose our soul, will you please tell me what it has profited us?â€
