WATCH: Conservative PAC Prematurely Airs Ads Thanking Republicans For Obamacare Repeal

Commercials Paid for by the American Action Network Appeared in Several Markets Friday Night

Hours after the GOP’s plan to repeal and replace Obamacare went down in flames, a conservative PAC aired TV ads in several markets congratulating Republicans in Congress for passing the measure.

Deadspin reports that the ads — paid for by the American Action Network PAC — aired during basketball coverage Friday night in Virginia, California, Iowa and Texas.

“Republicans are keeping their promise with a new plan for better health care, more choices and lower costs, putting doctors and patients in charge again,” the ad’s narrator states.

“No more big government subsidies or job-killing mandates. New tax credits to make insurance cheaper, and real protections for people with pre-existing conditions,” the ads continue, before urging viewers to thank their representative for “keeping their promise and replacing the Affordable Care Act with the better health care you deserve.”

The Washington Examiner notes that two members of Congress featured in the ads, California’s Barbara Comstock and Iowa’s David Young, reportedly were leaning toward voting “no” on the GOP plan, which was pulled from the House floor by Speaker Paul Ryan after it became clear it wouldn’t pass.

Trump Asks If He Should ‘Leave the Presidency’ to Become a Full-Time TV Host

President Donald Trump announced he will host the “Trump Kennedy Center” honors on Tuesday night, where he also floated an unexpected question.

“At the request of the Board, and just about everybody else in America, I am hosting the event,” the president wrote in the lighthearted post. Trump is the chairman of the board.

“Tell me what you think of my ‘Master of Ceremony’ abilities,” he continued.

“If really good, would you like me to leave the Presidency in order to make ‘hosting’ a full time job?” Trump asked. It was not immediately clear whether he was joking.

This is the first time a U.S. president has hosted the event, which was recorded earlier this month and will be broadcast Tuesday night.

“We will be honoring true GREATS in the History of Entertainment: Sylvester Stallone, Michael Crawford, KISS, George Strait, and Gloria Gaynor,” Trump also noted.

Also unclear is if the “Trump Kennedy Center” name will remain. The Kennedy Center was named by an act of Congress.

A Democratic Congresswoman has filed a lawsuit on Monday to remove the president’s name from the iconic memorial to the late President John F. Kennedy.

DOJ Issues ‘Bizarre’ Disclaimer Defending Trump in Latest Epstein Files Dump

Published

The U.S. Department of Justice has issued a disclaimer warning aimed at protecting President Donald Trump amid its latest Epstein files dump.

The files, approximately 30,000, comprise the third batch released by the Justice Department. All files were required to be released on December 19, but the DOJ has been releasing them in batches and said it could take up to several weeks for all the files to be made available.

“The latest documents appear to contain court records, emails, and some heavily or completely redacted files,” according to CNBC.

“Some of these documents contain untrue and sensationalist claims made against President Trump that were submitted to the FBI right before the 2020 election,” the DOJ stated in its warning posted to social media.

“To be clear: the claims are unfounded and false, and if they had a shred of credibility, they certainly would have been weaponized against President Trump already. Nevertheless, out of our commitment to the law and transparency, the DOJ is releasing these documents with the legally required protections for Epstein’s victims.”

The Bulwark’s Bill Kristol wrote, “The Justice Department as Trump’s defense counsel. And a disreputable one at that.”

Politico senior legal affairs correspondent Kyle Cheney called the DOJ’s statement “bizarre.”

“Bizarre defensive post from DOJ saying if allegations of Trump had any credibility they would’ve been ‘weaponized’ against him. But… if they had credibility, then pursuing them, by definition, wouldn’t be weaponization.”

The Bulwark’s Sam Stein called it a “tweet that reads as if it came from Trump’s personal defense lawyer.”

Former Republican U.S. Congressman Joe Walsh added, “Technically, this tweet is coming from our government. But it sounds like & reads like it’s coming from Trump’s lawyers. Trump has so completely corrupted our Justice Department.”

Trump Jr. Takes Victory Lap Over Exodus at Troubled Heritage Foundation

Published

on

President Donald Trump’s son is celebrating the departure of prominent voices from the conservative Heritage Foundation, the right-wing think tank behind the widely criticized Project 2025 and many of his father’s most controversial policies.

Heritage has been losing key players ever since President Kevin Roberts voiced strong support for the “close friend” of the foundation, far-right podcaster Tucker Carlson — after Carlson delivered a softball interview with Christian nationalist leader Nick Fuentes. Many see Fuentes as promoting white supremacy, racism, antisemitism, misogyny, and Islamophobia.

On Monday, The Wall Street Journal reported that even more staffers are leaving Heritage and being welcomed by former Trump vice president Mike Pence’s political group, Advancing American Freedom (AAF).

HuffPost called it a “mass defection,” while The Daily Beast suggested that Heritage is imploding.

“Pence told the Journal he had long admired the Heritage Foundation,” the WSJ reported, “but sees the group now ‘abandoning its principles.’ He said Heritage had ‘fallen because it had embraced elements of isolationism, stopped backing Ukraine in the war with Russia, supported some tariffs and backed Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as HHS secretary, among other things.”

“Why these people are coming our way is that Heritage and some other voices and commentators have embraced big-government populism and have been willing to tolerate antisemitism,” Pence said.

More than a dozen Heritage staffers are headed to Pence’s group, following the exit of several top voices including  Princeton professor Robert P. George, who was once described by The New York Times as America’s “most influential conservative Christian thinker.”

Kim Holmes, a former Assistant U.S. Secretary of State wrote, “The scholars joining AAF are among the best Heritage had. We should all be extremely grateful to Mike Pence for welcoming them.”

He called it “obvious” that the Heritage Foundation is now in a “deep state of crisis,” and said it is “long past time for the Board of Trustees to show responsibility and leadership to fix this very sad state of affairs.”

Adding that “only the board can save Heritage now,” Holmes noted, “I say all this as a former Executive Vice President of The Heritage Foundation who resigned four and half years ago because I could not in good conscience follow the new direction demanded by the Board.”

In a statement, Pence said: “AAF is honored to welcome these principled conservative scholars to the team. They bring a wealth of experience, a love of country, and a deep commitment to the Constitution and Conservative Movement that will further the cause of liberty.”

Meanwhile, Donald Trump Jr. had a very different take.

“Personally, I think it’s great news for Heritage that a bunch of Trump-hating RINOs are leaving,” he wrote. “Anyone who would want to go work for Mike Pence’s globalist never-Trump organization isn’t MAGA and definitely doesn’t put America First!”
