Mnuchin Refuses Democrats’ Request for Trump’s Taxes
Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin has inserted himself into House Democrats’ request for President Donald Trump’s taxes, and has rejected that request.
The Treasury Secretary claimed the request serves “legitimate legislative purpose,” according to The Washington Post.
A court battle is likely.
A 1924 law passed after the Teapot-Dome scandal allows for the simple request from the House Ways and Means chairman to the head of the IRS. Mnuchin technically is not the decision-maker, but has made himself so.
