New Mueller Filing in Michael Flynn Case Expected to Reveal More Information About Russia Probe
The office of special counsel Robert Mueller is expected to make a legal filing on Tuesday recommending a sentence for Michael Flynn, who briefly served as National Security Advisor to President Donald Trump, reports the Wall Street Journal.
According to the report, that filing will likely reveal how much information Flynn may have given investigators about Russian involvement in the 2016 presidential campaign of Trump.
Flynn, who only lasted in his job 24 days, pleaded guilty in December 2017 to lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russia.
According to the report, “Mr. Flynn faces as long as six months in prison, but he could receive a reduced sentence, including probation with no jail time, depending on the nature and extent of his help. Other defendants who have pleaded guilty to the same crime in Mr. Mueller’s investigation have received sentences of a month or less.”
His sentencing is scheduled in federal court on Dec. 18.
