Progressive Civil Rights Author, Activist, Professor Howard Zinn DIes At 87.
Howard Zinn, author of “A People’s History of the United States,” has died at the age of 87. He was a hero to many on the left, including Bruce Springsteen. Ben Affleck and Matt Damon mentioned Zinn’s most famous publication in “Good Will Hunting.”
Forbes has an excellent obit, in which they include this passage by Zinn about President Obama, which appeared last week in The Nation:
“I think people are dazzled by Obama’s rhetoric, and that people ought to begin to understand that Obama is going to be a mediocre president – which means, in our time, a dangerous president – unless there is some national movement to push him in a better direction.”
