‘The Fake News Media Has Never Been So Wrong’: Watch the Actor Who Plays Gollum Read Donald Trump’s Tweets
Andy Serkis as Gollum Reading Trump’s Tweets Is Brilliant – and Creepy
Actor Andy Serkis visited Stephen Colbert Tuesday night and delivered a totally creepy (and yet, awesome) performance. Serkis portrayed Gollum in “The Lord of the Rings” film trilogy, so naturally Colbert asked him to read some of Donald Trump’s tweets — as Gollum.
Like this:
The Fake News Media has never been so wrong or so dirty. Purposely incorrect stories and phony sources to meet their agenda of hate. Sad!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 13, 2017
And his infamous “covfefe” tweet — which apparently has been deleted.
Serkis was only too happy to indulge Colbert, and jumped up on the chair in character.
It’s brilliant.
Watch (video is cued up, begins at around the 3:30 mark):
Gizmodo’s Matt Novak notes Colbert is “a huge LOTR nerd,” and he says: “Let’s just hope it doesn’t start a World War. I can just picture Trump ordering strikes on New Zealand because he thinks that’s where Gollum lives or something.”Â
