WATCH: White House Refuses to Confirm or Deny President Trump Is Secretly Taping Conversations
‘The Tweet Speaks for Itself’
White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer is refusing to confirm or deny if President Donald Trump is secretly recording conversations he has, including with Jim Comey.
Earlier Friday the President threatened the FBI Director he had fired on Tuesday, saying, “James Comey better hope that there are no ‘tapes’ of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!”
Spicer told reporters that he spoke with Trump about that tweet and “the president has nothing further to add on that.” Asked several more questions about the tweet, including if Trump “has recording devices in the Oval Office or the residence,” Spicer each time responded, “the president has nothing further to add on that.”

Spicer also rejected the characterization of the President’s threat as a threat.Â
“That’s not a threat, he simply stated a fact, the tweet speaks for itself, I’m moving on,” Spicer concluded.
