Majority of Americans No Longer Believe Donald Trump Keeps His Promises
What’s Stunning Is the Majority Once Did
A new Gallup poll released Monday morning shows a significant drop in the number of Americans who think President Donald Trump keeps his promises. In February, just a few weeks after being sworn in to office, 62 percent of Americans said they believe Trump keeps his promises. Today, just two months later, that number stands at less than half, just 45 percent. That’s a whopping 17 point drop. Among women, Trump lost 25 points in that question.
In other areas, Trump is also losing ground.
“Is a strong and decisive leader” just barely gets a majority, 52%, down from 59%.Â
“Can bring about changes this country needs” also drops seven points, to 46%.Â
“Is honest and trustworthy” drops six points, to 36%.
“Cares about the needs of people like you” drops four points, to 42%.
“Can manage the government effectively” drops 3 points, to 41%.
What seems clear is the country, and many around the world, are growing increasingly dissatisfied with President Trump.Â
But what also seems clear is Trump’s attempts to bolster his standing int he opinion polls aren’t working. If he thought sending missiles into Syria, bombing ISIS, or threatening North Korea would help, Gallup’s daily tracking poll says otherwise. His numbers have stayed exceptionally static, as the latest Gallup daily tracking poll (above) confirms.
