Report: Trump Presented Fake Invoice To Merkel Because He Doesn’t Know How NATO Works
Angela Merkel Is Ignoring The Made-Up Document
President Donald Trump presented a made-up invoice for $375 billion to German Chancellor Angela Merkel during their meeting in Washington this month.Â
Trump alleges that Germany has not been paying its fair share of NATO expenses, but numerous experts have pointed out that his claim is based on a misunderstanding of how the military alliance works.Â
According to the Sunday Times, which first reported the invoice, Merkel rightfully “ignored” it, with a German minister blasting Trump’s ploy as “outrageous.”Â
“The concept behind putting out such demands is to intimidate the other side, but the chancellor took it calmly and will not respond to such provocations,†the minister said.
Trump reportedly submitted the invoice to Merkel in private talks during their disastrous meeting in which the president also refused to shake her hand.Â

Trump is worse than you could have imagined, even knowing that he’s worse than you could have imagined. https://t.co/BEnukQbXV8

The best park of this is, Merkel didn’t react. Trump got nothing out of this ridiculous move which now makes him look foolish. https://t.co/bcngCBkFZv

He seriously tried to invoice Germany for $374 billion because he doesn’t understand how NATO funding works. 🤦â€â™€ï¸ https://t.co/sLrEsnUFWi pic.twitter.com/oA69AKQYgG

so was it like: Merkel arrives, Trump serves her bogus NATO bill, Merkel laughs, Trump refuses to publicly shake her hand because he’s mad?
