Breaking: After Trump Nomination White Supremacist David Duke Announces He’s Running for US Senate
Says He’s Running to Represent ‘Real Americans’
David Duke has just announced he is running for the U.S. Senate in Louisiana. The white supremacist who was an early supporter of Donald Trump used the crowning of the GOP nominee to launch his campaign Friday morning, saying “real Americans” need one person in Congress and the Senate to represent them. Duke says he demands “respect for the rights and heritage of European Americans.”
Duke, a former Louisiana state representative, takes credit for Trump’s “America First” slogan, and in his launch video brags he passed the only bill in America that prohibits affirmative action programs from denying “the best qualified” candidates.Â
The AP notes, “Duke is a convicted felon, pleading guilty in 2002 to bilking his supporters and cheating on his taxes. He spent a year in federal prison.”
