Short Film Encouraging Parents To Accept Gay Children Goes Viral (Video)

Published

A short film urging parents to support and accept their LGBT children has gone viral in China. Watch it here.

A six-minute film chronicling the journey one family in China has taken to accept their gay son has gone viral in that nation, receiving over 100 million views on the country’s QQ video streaming site. The video, which you can watch below with English subtitles, was produced by PFLAG China.

“Coming Home” takes place during the Chinese Lunar New Year, when families get together, much like the Thanksgiving holiday in America, The Hollywood Reporter notes.

“Homosexuality was decriminalized in China in 1997, and in the early 2000’s it was removed from the list of mental illnesses,” THR writes. “But there is a deeply held Chinese belief that children are required to marry and bear offspring to continue the family line, which means homosexuality is still heavily stigmatized. Because of this, the Chinese New Year family gathering can be a harrowing experience for gays and lesbians.”

At the end of the film, mothers appear, saying, “Don’t think of the love of your parents as a burden,” or, “Be brave and be yourself. Tell your parents your experiences, and we will share with you.” Another urges, “Don’t let traditional thinking stop you from coming home.”

China is the world’s most populous nation, with nearly 1.4 billion people.

‘I Know People. They Don’t Believe That’: Marjorie Taylor Greene Scorches Johnson

Published

U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), a longtime loyal MAGA soldier, is continuing to break with her party, this time blasting Speaker Mike Johnson for shuttering the House while waiting for the Senate to pass legislation to reopen the government.

Congresswoman Greene’s criticisms have been so stunning to the party that President Donald Trump has called congressional Republicans to ask what happened to his once die-hard ally, according to The Independent.

Speaking to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Greg Bluestein on the paper’s “Politically Georgia” podcast on Thursday, Greene expressed her frustration over the House not being open for business.

“We should be, there’s a lot of things we can be working on in the House, and that’s our appropriation bills,” the Georgia Republican said. “There’s many other bills that we could be passing right now.”

Speaker Johnson has canceled all votes in the House, sending members to their home districts.

“I don’t think that it’s believable to tell the American people that while we control the White House, the House, and the Senate, that we can’t return to work in Washington, D.C., because Chuck Schumer and six other Democrats won’t vote to open the government,” Greene said.

“I just, I know people,” she continued. “They don’t believe that.”

Greene has sided with Democrats who are demanding Republicans extend the Affordable Care Act subsidies. Without them, many Americans will see their health care premiums skyrocket.

“And also because I’m against the CRs [continuing resolutions] and I’m for appropriations, I really don’t see how we ever have pass appropriations if we’re continuing to sit at home and then we have another deadline coming on November 20th.”

According to Bluestein, Greene also spoke on the podcast about extending the ObamaCare subsidies: “This is such a severe problem that it’s crippling Americans’ abilities to make ends meet, and it’s a failure by Republicans to not recognize it and to not be working on a solution.”

‘I’m Begging You — My Kids Could Die’: GOP C-SPAN Caller Slams Johnson Over Shutdown

Published

A Republican voter — a military spouse and mother of two children with medical needs whose husband suffers from PTSD — called into C-SPAN to blast House Speaker Mike Johnson for refusing to allow votes to end the shutdown and reopen the federal government.

Apologizing to the Speaker for her voice sounding “shaky,” the caller, Samantha from Virginia, said, “I have two medically fragile children. I have a husband who actively serves this country. He suffers from PTSD from his two tours in Afghanistan.”

She explained that if the military does not get paid on October 15, “my children do not get to get the medication that’s needed for them to live their life, because we live paycheck to paycheck.”

Samantha urged Speaker Johnson to pass legislation to get the military paid, which she said, President Trump supports.

“You have the power to do that. And as a Republican, I’m very disappointed in my party, and I’m very disappointed in you, because you do have the power to call the House back.”

She blasted him for his refusal to do so, saying it was “just for a show.”

“I am begging you to pass this legislation. My kids could die,” she said.

“We don’t have the credit because of the medical bills, that I have to pay regularly. You could stop this, and you could be the one that could say military’s getting paid. And I think that it is awful, and the audacity of someone who makes six figures a year, to do this to military families, it’s insane.”

Saying he was sorry to hear about Samantha’s “situation,” Speaker Johnson said he’s “been so angry this week,” because of “situations just like yours.”

“I have one of the biggest military districts and military families in America. I have a lot of airmen and soldiers who are deployed right now, and they have young families at home, and they have children in health situations like yours.”

“This is what keeps me up at night,” Johnson professed, before defending his party.

“The Republicans are the ones delivering for you. We had a vote to pay the troops. It was the continued resolution three weeks ago.”

Johnson has repeatedly insisted that the House has done its job to re-open the government by having passed that bill, while repeatedly also saying he refuses to allow any votes on the House floor that are not in keeping with that legislation — including any Senate bill that might come over.

“The Democrats are the ones that are preventing you from getting a check,” he said. Before blaming Chuck Schumer, claiming the Senate Democratic Leader “is enjoying this.”

“My heart goes out to you,” Johnson said.

‘Treasonous, Probably’: Trump and Cabinet Pledge War on ‘Sophisticated’ Antifa Network

Published

on

During Wednesday’s White House roundtable on “Antifa,” Trump Cabinet secretaries compared it to international drug cartels and vowed to dismantle it “brick by brick,” while the President described Antifa as “treasonous, probably.”

Antifa, which the President has labeled a “domestic terrorist organization,” is widely seen as a movement of people opposed to fascism and racism. It is not believed to be a formal organization. BBC News describes it as “a loosely organized, leftist movement that opposes far-right, racist and fascist groups,” and which “lacks a distinct leader, membership list or structure. In 2020, then-FBI Director Christopher Wray told Congress that Antifa was better defined as an ideology than as a formal organization.”

U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem told roundtable attendees, “One of the individuals we arrested recently in Portland was the girlfriend of one of the founders of Antifa.”

Secretary Noem said they are “hoping that as we go after her, interview her and prosecute her, we will get more and more information about the network and how we can root them out, and eliminate them from the existence of American society.”

She also said that “this network of Antifa is just as sophisticated as MS-13, as TdA, as ISIS, as Hezbollah, as Hamas, as all of them.”

“They are just as dangerous. They have an agenda to destroy us, just like the other terrorists we’ve dealt with for many, many years. And today is the day that we have a president that won’t tolerate it, and will stand up and fight for the American people.”

Similarly, Attorney General Pam Bondi said that “fighting crime is more than just getting the bad guy off the streets. It’s breaking down the organization, brick by brick. Just like we did with cartels. We are going to take the same approach, President Trump, with Antifa, destroy the entire organization from top to bottom. We’re going to take them apart.”

“Their hatred for President Trump, and for law and order agendas, fuels their violence,” Bondi said. “We saw what’s happening in Portland and Chicago, and you saw what happened in Dallas. No longer. It is not activism, it’s anarchy. We can’t, and we will not, let masked terrorists burn our buildings, attack our law enforcement, and intimidate our communities.”

She declared that the Trump administration is “deploying the full might of the federal law enforcement to crack down on Antifa and other domestic terrorist organizations.”

President Trump said, “we’re going after Antifa criminals and all who fund and support their campaigns are in serious trouble, and we have a lot of records already, a lot of surprises, a lot of bad surprises — people that you would never think.”

He also asked the group to identify the “funders” of Antifa: “These are people that do not have good intention for the country, and that’s treasonous, probably.”

Critics blasted the event.

“After the US bombed multiple boats in the middle of the ocean, murdering people on grounds that they were allegedly ‘carrying drugs,’ the US Attorney General says ‘Just like we did with cartels, we’re going to take the same approach…with Antifa,'” wrote Zeteo News’ Prem Thakker.

Attorney Aaron Reichlin-Melnick of the American Immigration Council observed, “Cartels have actual leadership structures, central funding, command and control, and more. ‘Antifa’ is mostly a philosophy. That the Attorney General doesn’t know the difference is quite the thing to admit!”

Bill Kristol, the director of Defending Democracy Together, wrote: “Which is more alarming? That the Homeland Security secretary might actually believe that ‘Antifa’ is as dangerous as Hezbollah or Hamas? Or that she’s willing to engage in this level of lying and demagoguery? Neither is good!”

Olga Lautman, a Russian intelligence expert and senior fellow at the Center for European Policy Analysis, pointed to Bondi’s remark about cartels and asked: “Are they planning on sending missiles to American cities to carry out extrajudicial killings.”

SiriusXM host Dean Obeidallah issued this warning: “Please understand that This is Trump regime explaining how they will use the government to prosecute Democrats. Page 1 of the fascist playbook is imprison political opponents so that the fascist has one party rule.”
