Breaking: Federal Judge Strikes Down Colorado Same-Sex Marriage Ban
As expected, Raymond P. Moore, U.S. District Court Judge for the District of Colorado this evening struck down Colorado’s voter-approved ban on same-sex marriage.Â
Judge Raymond Moore, appointed to the federal bench in late 2012 by President Barack Obama, tonight struck down as unconstitutional Colorado’s ban on same-sex marriage, which voters had approved in 2006. Judge Moore had been weighing whether or not to stay his ruling, and decided tonight he would through August 25.
Colorado Republican Attorney General John Suthers had wanted a stay until the case had been decided on appeal.Â
Just three weeks ago, a state judge came to the same conclusion, ruling the state’s marriage ban as unconstitutional.
