Selfie Of The Day: Openly Gay Derrick Gordon Is A Very Happy Guy
UMASS sophomore Derrick Gordon came out today, becoming the first openly gay male player in NCAA Division 1 athletics. He had given an in-depth interview to Outsports, another one to ESPN, and one to MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell. Every major media outlet has covered the story today in a positive way. Through Derrick’s Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts, he’s gotten a lot of positive support. He even set up a new Facebook fan page, which already has 250 likes.
Derrick posted the above photo to Instagram this afternoon. He writes, “Thank you everybody for all the support so far!!!!,” and in a nod to his Nike Tee shirt and its LGBT rainbow logo, he adds, “#BETRUE.”
Not a bad day at all!
